Construction equals progress

We have had an exciting couple of weeks here at IPS, preparing for the three modular spaces to be installed onsite. We have had under-boring machines, ditch digging machines, cranes and parts of the modulars comin and also Tricky Trees here to trim back and mulch a couple of areas, so we can get the buildings into the correct space. All the tamariki (and adults ) have enjoyed watching and learning about the various machinery.

IPS Athletics Day

We had a beautiful day down at the TeT on Tuesday. We were so proud of all the children who gave their best and ,many many school records were broken.

We will share the details of the events next week.

Panitahi News

Amazing writers and readers from Panitahi Adams.

Pouakai News

Pouākai Smith worked alongside Bex Langton with the Beebots and the Edison robots. We loved using the different codes for the Edison’s to make them clap activated or stick within a boundary. We moved the Beebots around mazes that we made up on the carpet and had to see if we could code the Beebots through the maze on the first try. We have some budding Rocket Lab apprentices in the making!

Pouākai have been learning basic coding skills lately.

Here we created Pouākai Palace. A village with shops. We had to ask others to do some errands by writing some instructions. Such as “Could you please go to the Bee Bank and get $100 out. Then go to the Pet Shop to buy Puppy. On your way home, treat yourself to a fluffy at the Cafe.” The team then had to work out the programming of Beebots to complete the tasks.

We had so much fun.

Waiongana iti News

This week in Waionganaiti Iti we have been learning to write instructions. We have started by writing instructions on how to make a milo. Then we had to follow our instructions precisely. This was a lot of fun as a lot of students were not specific on where to put the milo or how much milk to use. They soon learnt that writing instructions for how to make a milo was tricker than they had thought. However, we had loads of fun.

This week, we have also been doing some origami. The students have enjoyed making different sorts of objects. Some of our students even made a basketball court.

New Student Management System Edge Mobile App

This week we have started using a new Student Management System called 'Edge'. The Edge App has some amazing functions. Some of these functions will not be available until 2022 and we will keep you posted when these can be accessed. In the meantime, please download the app and begin by sending all student absences through the app. Please also delete the "School App" as we will no longer be using this. Any queries, please pop in to the school office or email office@inglewood.school.nz.

Surf lessons for kids and teens!

My name is Karine Bödeker and I offer surf lessons for kids and teens at Fitzroy beach. I am a certified level 1 ISA surf coach and owner of New Plymouth Surf School.

Surfing is a great way for kids to learn about the ocean and gain new skills. Children from 7 years old can learn how to surf in a safe and fun way. For the kids surf groups, there is one instructor per 4 or 5 children, depending on the conditions. Therefore I am able to provide personal coaching for every little surfer. The kids surf lessons are always held in the white water waves, close to the beach. My goal is to make your kids happy and introduce them to surfing in a safe way. The lesson is approx. 1 hour water time and it takes almost 1,5 hours in total. Wetsuit and surfboard are included. Cost: $45 per person per lesson. Location: Fitzroy beach.

To book a lesson, please get in touch with Karine Bödeker 0273075842, newplymouthsurfschool@gmail.com
