New Superintendent

We'd like to take a moment to thank Mr. Tim Ames for his 9 years of service as Superintendent of the Medical Lake School District. Mr. Ames will be retiring June 30, 2023. Mrs. Kim Headrick has been named by the Medical Lake School Board of Directors as our new Superintendent beginning July 1, 2023.

I want to thank our MLSD School Board for giving me the opportunity to continue to serve our district. I also want to thank Mr. Ames for the outstanding leadership and mentorship that he has provided not only to me but to our entire district by building strong relationships and programs that make the Medical Lake and Fairchild communities such awesome places to learn and live. I look forward to continuing that work and tradition, ensuring we live our motto of "Every Student, Every Day."

Mrs. Headrick has served as our Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for the past ten years, following eight years as a middle school principal in Cle Elum. She also spent nine years in the Clark County School District in Las Vegas as a teacher and school administrator. Kim is currently completing her Doctorate in Education at Gonzaga University and earned her Superintendent Certificate from Washington State University in 2015. Kim is a 12-year graduate of Medical Lake (1989) and her parents both served as educators in this district as well.

Welcome Rob Haugen

We want to introduce our next Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Mr. Rob Haugen.

Rob is currently the Director of Elementary Education in the Mead School District following six years as principal at Colbert Elementary. Prior to coming to Mead, Rob served as an elementary principal and assistant principal in the Bethel School District and a 5th and 6th-grade teacher in Puyallup.

As Rob shared in his letter of interest, he is a proud product of the Medical Lake School District (1995) and attributes his successes to the "teachers, staff members, coaches, and administrators that inspired, motivated, and enabled me to pursue whatever dream or pathway I could imagine for myself."

He is thrilled to be joining our team and assisting us in realizing our Medical Lake Promise and ensuring a high-quality education for Every Student, Every Day.
