Queridas familias,

Espero que hayas tenido una buena semana. El mes de enero está casi por terminar y hemos llegado oficialmente a la mitad del año escolar. El próximo lunes comienza el tercer trimestre de clases y los maestros han estado trabajando arduamente hoy preparando las boletas de calificaciones del segundo trimestre que enviaremos a casa con los estudiantes el próximo viernes 3 de febrero. A medida que avanzamos en el mes de febrero, estamos emocionados de comenzar nuestra anual celebración del Mes de la Historia Afroamericana. Como lo hemos hecho en los últimos años, honraremos la historia negra y la excelencia negra durante todo el mes a través de lecciones en el salón de clases, exhibiciones en la escuela y culminando con nuestra celebración en toda la escuela el jueves 23 de febrero de 5:30 p. m. a 7:30 p. m. Compartiremos más información sobre este evento en las próximas semanas y, como en años anteriores, el evento contará con deliciosa comida, actividades divertidas y actuaciones inspiradoras de estudiantes y adultos. El tema nacional de la celebración del Mes de la Historia Afroamericana de este año es "Resistencia Negra" (https://asalh.org/black-history-themes/) y estaremos honrando a los héroes negros que han resistido y hecho frente a la injusticia y el racismo en todas sus formas a lo largo de la historia. También estamos emocionados este año de proporcionar a todos nuestros estudiantes y personal camisetas con un logotipo personalizado de St. Johns/James John para honrar este mes. Nuestro PTA venderá estas camisetas a las familias si desean una. Finalmente, a medida que ingresamos el próximo mes, la "Encuesta de escuelas exitosas" anual de PPS está abierta y recomendamos encarecidamente a todos los padres que completen esta encuesta y den su opinión a nuestra escuela y al distrito. ¡Necesitamos escuchar tu voz! ¡Ten un excelente fin de semana!

Dear Families,

I hope you have had a good week. The month of January is almost at an end and we have officially reached the halfway point of the school year. Next Monday begins the third quarter of school and teachers have been working hard today preparing the second quarter report cards which we will be sending home with students next Friday, February 3. As we move into the month of February we are excited to begin our annual celebration of Black History Month. As we have done in recent years, we will be honoring Black History and Black Excellence throughout the month through classroom lessons, displays in school and culminating in our school wide celebration on Thursday, February 23 from 5:30-7:30pm. We will share more information about this event in the coming weeks and as in previous years, the event will feature delicious food, fun activities and inspiring student and adult performances. The national theme of this year’s Black History Month celebration is “Black Resistance” (https://asalh.org/black-history-themes/) and we will be honoring the Black heroes who have resisted and stood up to injustice and racism in all forms over the course of history. We are also excited this year to provide all of our students and staff with t-shirts with a custom St.Johns/James John logo to honor this month. Our PTA will be selling these t-shirts to families if you would like one. Finally, as we enter next month, the PPS annual “Successful Schools Survey” is open and we strongly encourage all parents to complete this survey and give feedback to our school and the district. Ahora puede realizar la encuesta en línea en su casa, o puede visitar nuestra escuela y realizar la encuesta en nuestro centro de computadoras ubicado en la biblioteca de 7:50 a. m. - 8:15 a. m., de martes a viernes.
