Admissions Beat
November 2019
Greetings from Burke Admissions!
First, with Thanksgiving just around the bend, let's review some upcoming dates:
- December 14 - Final Open House
- January 10 - Preliminary Application Due
- January 17 - Transcripts, Testing Results, and Recommendations Due
- January 31 - Financial Aid Forms Deadline
(And remember to check Ravenna for small-group tour availability.)
Second, let's answer a couple common queries:
- Can you submit the preliminary application now?
Sure! Once that's submitted, you can schedule your visit day – that's when your child has the chance to attend classes (with a Burke student as their guide), followed by an interview in the admissions office.
- Can we discuss financial aid?
Absolutely. We know that everyone's financial situation is a bit different and we are here to assist. You can reach out by phone or email.

Explore Your Interests
Burke enables (and encourages) students to delve deeply into areas that spark their interest. Here are just a few examples:
- In Math, our upper-level electives span Multivariable Calculus, Financial Algebra, and Advanced Statistics.
- In History, freshman can choose among African Studies, Chinese Studies, Classical Studies, and Medieval Studies, while upperclassmen can select from Advanced Art History, Behavioral Psychology, and numerous others.
- In Visual Arts, 8th graders enjoy a "menu" of arts media, including Ceramics, Photography, Filmmaking, and Urban Alchemy.

Look Around Campus
Remember, we also have small-group tours throughout the month, and you're welcome to attend a tour in addition to the Open House. It's a great opportunity to ask questions!
Cheers,
The Admissions Team
