A Message From Our Superintendent

Dear Galena Park ISD Family and Friends,

Even though our school year may look a little different than what we had hoped, it hasn't lessened our commitment to the community or changed our mission. We teach kids - regardless of the circumstances! Good things are still happening in Galena Park ISD!

This month we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the contributions of the Hispanic community, history, and culture to the United States. These observances are an important part of Galena Park ISD, as we serve a community rich in diversity, culture and tradition. I hope you’ll take some time to talk to your child(ren) about Hispanic Heritage Month and consider participating in an activity that celebrates some aspect of Hispanic history, culture and tradition.

Character education is another important part of the well-rounded education we provide our students, and we highlight a specific trait each month. Our mission of preparing students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners can only be accomplished if our students have a clear understanding of values such as civic duty, respect, fairness, compassion, honesty, and responsibility. As parents, you give your children a character education foundation at home, and we feel it is our responsibility to continue cultivating these traits to help our students become the best version of themselves. This month, we are focusing on the importance of school pride and civic duty.

Thank you, again, for the support you give us. You make Galena Park ISD…A Great Place to Be!

Sincerely,

John C. Moore, Jr., Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
