22 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School
10.19.18
Panthers,
We have done our best this week not to float away! I have been amazed at how well our students have finished this grading period with such success. As educators, this is an exciting time moving forward because we are able to build on a solid foundation of knowledge and really expand the student learning to new heights. This is always a fun time of year with our extracurricular activities, because there is always something going on at CHHS. I had the opportunity last Saturday night to attend the performance by our theatre department. What I wasn't expecting was to be a participant in the spelling bee! It was a great joy to be on stage with such talented kids. Our choir had their fall concert marking the beginning of their preparations for a busy contest year, and as always, they sounded wonderful. Next Monday our band will travel to Birdville FAAC to perform in their UIL contest with their great show, Forbidden City.
On the athletic side of things, our girls basketball team has begun their season with intense practices while our other fall sports have started their district and post-district competitions. Our tennis team was district champs, and have advanced to the second round of the playoffs tomorrow! The girls country team is headed to regionals on Monday along with one of our boy runners. The volleyball team has a big match with our cross town friends on Tuesday night that will decide the district championship. Finally, our football team will travel to R.L. Turner for another district ball game.
And, next week leads us to the annual Red Rail game. That week is always so exciting for our students, but it is sometimes marred by students making foolish decisions. I would encourage you to have a conversation with your students about appropriate actions this coming week and let's enjoy a great tradition in our community. Have a great weekend and GO PANTHERS!

Define what PRIDE means to you at CHHS.
My role as the captain of the Panteras Dance Team gives me PRIDE as a CHHS student. The team is very important to me because it has created so many great friendships in my life. I cherish the close bond I share with my teammates, and I constantly feel motivated by them to improve my dancing. It's rare to be on a dance team that is so positive, so I am very grateful for all of our time spent together. The greatest feeling is when we finally get to perform our dances. It's so fun to show off our hard work and team PRIDE to the community.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT 2019: COLLIN LOSACK
Collin Losack is our featured 2019 Senior Spotlight Student this week. Collin is a captain on the varsity football team in the fall and in the spring will play varsity Baseball. He was elected student body president and is involved in leadership, Red Jackets and NHS. He plans to major in biomedical/chemical engineering in college. His motto is “people with great passion can make the impossible happen”. He thinks Project Graduation "is a great opportunity for the seniors to get together one last time with people we have shared so many memories with". We hope all our seniors will join Collin at the 2019 Project Graduation Celebration.
