The Sonoma Ranch Elementary School Principal's Newsletter
Year 7 Issue 204
We Engage We Educate We Inspire
Welcome back from Fall Break! I hope your family enjoyed the time away from school. Whenever we return from an extended time away from school, our teachers spend time upon our return reviewing expectations. This helps to remind everyone how we do what we do each day. Your students will spend time this week reviewing classroom rules and expectations. We will also be making arrangements for our quarterly Ranch Rules talks, where I meet with the students to talk about our Ranch Rules and other aspects of Sonoma Ranch. I know I speak for everyone here when I say we are looking forward to a successful 2nd quarter!
GPS will continue to follow all of the health precautions in place for first quarter. Face coverings continue to be required. Please remember to send your student to school with their water bottle each day as well.
Families have been doing a wonderful job with student drop off and pick up. The process is designed for two lanes of vehicles that merge at the turn. I appreciate everyone being kind and courteous throughout this process. Over time the students will get the hang of the process. Everyone is still relearning routines!
Please keep in mind that the parking lot in front of the campus is not for student drop off or pick up. A high number of students walk through that parking lot to use the crosswalk on Key Biscayne. We do not want any accidents or close calls. For that reason, we do not allow families to drop off or pick up in the front lot. Please park in the neighborhood and walk across Key Biscayne to meet your students.
Lunch (and breakfast) is Free
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended free meals for children 18 years and younger until further notice to help ensure all children have access to nutritious food as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gilbert Public Schools will provide combo meals at no cost to students for breakfast and lunch. A combo meal includes an entree, fruit and/or vegetable and beverage (milk and/or juice).
We certainly encourage our families to take advantage of this opportunity. The menu for October is below.
