Culture and Medical Perspective
There is 2 types of perspectives. Medical and Cultural. Cultural is about Deaf people with the capital D that means they have learned their culture, they are proud to be Deaf, and their Deaf community. The medical perspective people are born or had an accident and became deaf with the little d meaning become unable to hear and use many tools like hearing aids to try to understand and come back to modern day hearing like everyone else.
Technology used for the deaf and hard of hearing.
There is technology for the deaf and hard of hearing. Culture or Medical. Some technology for the cultural perspective is instead of a fire alarm they have fire lights. If they can't hear they can see. They flashing light will light there senses and they will know something is happening. Technology of the Medical. One of the technology many people know is the hearing aid. It helps people hear more. One thing they need is a microphone somewhere when the speaker is talking. One VERY old technology without electricity is the ear trumpet. It like a trumpet on your ear. You can hear more frequently. Close captioning helps as well when watching a video. A person that is blind uses fire alarms or a helping dog to get to safety. Usually helping dogs help make sure the person is safe and controls where is better for him/her.
ASL,PSE, and Oralism.
ASL(American Sign Language) is the language which the deaf and hard of hearing can communicate with one another. Its a language that you can take and study and get a degree in high school with. You need to graduate with it but lets get to the point. ASL and somewhat of English is the languages that they speak. PSE(Pidgen Signed English) is a cobination of ASL and English. PSE is not SEE(Signed Exact English). SEE uses signs not even in ASL and uses English word order. PSE is ASL signs with English word order. It can be used in some points. Cultural people usualy use this for people that use strict ASL. The last one is Oralism. Oralism is WAY deifferent from the rest. Instead of teaching the hard of hearing ASL they teach them English or lip reading. "The theory, practice, or advocacy of education for the deaf chiefly orexclusively through lipreading, training in speech production, andtraining of residual hearing."
