Immersion Education – Teaching academic content in another language

Hello Fronteras Families!

What a fantastic week together! Thank you to all of the fabulous volunteers who worked in the school this week! We love seeing you and having you engage with our students and school activities!

On Tuesday, Fronteras was part of a four-school tour focusing on choice in education. We were honored to welcome:

· Wasilla City Council member Dryden

· MSBSD School Board members

· Borough Assembly members

· Borough Manager Moosey

· State Senator Wilson, State Representatives Tilton, Johnson, and Eastman

· Representatives from the Offices of US Senator Sullivan and Murkowski

· Office of Governor Walker

· Superintendent Goyette and her leadership staff

During the tour, our guests learned who we are and the process we went through to get this beautiful building. They visited classrooms, talked with students and staff, and were treated to a delicious sampling of authentic Latin dishes prepared by Fronteras staff. It was a great morning and everyone left with smiles, compliments, and a plate full of yummy Latin and American cuisine.

Tuesday afternoon, Fronteras took precaution and went into a modified Stay Put when a young non-Fronteras student left his campus and entered ours. Employees from the other campus were successful in escorting the student back to his school and Fronteras returned to regular operation.

Next Friday, October 6th is our first Early Release Friday. Students are dismissed at 12:30pm. Please note: The bus does not stop at Boys and Girls Club on Early Release Fridays. There are no after school clubs on Early Release Fridays.

Thank you for sharing your children with us! We wish you a fabulous weekend!

Most Sincerely,

Mrs. Hutchins
