It's a Canvas Christmas!
Merry Christmas to YOU!
As we draw near to the end of the semester and start preparing for round two, I have some great news. The Canvas elves have been hard at work at the North Pole (actually Salt Lake City, Utah). They have some new and exciting features coming in the very near future that many of you will be excited about. Read below for details. I hope you and your family have a restful and blessed break!
Canvas Commons is a new repository where users can share/publish content for other teachers in their building, district, or Canvas community to access. This is a feature that many of you have mentioned that you have requested. This will be great for sharing course content, eDay modules, and online PD opportunities. You may start to see links to Canvas Commons appear on your course over the holidays. I will be leading a Tech Tidbits- LIVE session in your building once we return in January. Look for more details to come!
Canvas/PowerSchool Integration!- BETA
Okay, compose yourself. I know many of you have eagerly been waiting for this to arrive as much as Santa's arrival. THIS FEATURE IS IN BETA. We were asked if we would like to enable this feature, and we said yes due to your feedback. What does that mean for you? You will have the ability to sync the grades from Canvas to your PowerTeacher gradebook. It is a two-step process and should only be done after you have been trained. This will be included in the Tech Tidbits- LIVE session held in your building in January.
Many of you have asked if you could differentiate your assignments in Canvas. In Assignments, you will have the flexibility to differentiate assignments between sections and select which sections are required to complete specific tasks. You still cannot assign the assignment to only specific students within a section, but this is a huge step forward. Watch the video below for all of the latest new features being added.
