Ce l e b r a t e Y o u r A r t i s t !
Dear JMS Families,
Students have created beautiful designs in Art classes in partnership with Square 1 Art as a fundraiser to benefit JMS PTO enrichment opportunities such as bringing in guest presenters or providing extracurricular experiences.
Coming home soon will be your child’s custom catalog featuring their artwork. You can help make your child feel like an accomplished artist by purchasing keepsakes for the whole family containing their masterpiece. The JMS PTO earns profit from every order. And as a thank you for participating, Square 1 Art provides each child with a sheet of stickers printed with their artwork — absolutely FREE!
All online and paper order forms must be turned into classroom teachers by March 24th. (No late orders can be accepted.) Together, we can help support the school, build your child’s self-esteem, and create lasting keepsakes from your child’s artistic achievements.

Principal Coffee Hour - Preparing for Middle School
Please join Middle School Counselor Audrey Spielman and Principal Chapman on Thursday, March 23rd at 12:30 PM to answer questions regarding the middle school course registration process, as well as to talk about transitioning to Wamogo in the Fall. Mrs. Spielman will talk about upcoming events and strategies to prepare your child for life at Wamogo. We will meet at James Morris School.
6th-Grade Field Trip to Wamogo
Sixth grade students will be visiting Wamogo Wednesday, March 22nd. Students will be paired with a 7th grade buddy and attend an academic class to see first-hand what students are learning in 7th grade. They will also have an opportunity to meet their future teachers. Students will end their visit after enjoying lunch with the middle school students and return to their school.
Elementary Activity Social
Attention all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders: The Wamogo Class of 2017 is sponsoring an afternoon of activities led by a group of senior peer leaders from 3-6pm on Saturday, March 18th in the Wamogo Large Gym. The cost is $10 per student and will feature a variety of summer camp games and activities, an open gym for organized sports, and music! Concessions will be available for sale throughout the program.
Parents, please plan on dropping off and picking up your student(s) in the back of the building by the bear.
If you have any questions, please forward them to Mr. Bagley at sbagley@rsd6.org.
We hope you can join us for an afternoon of fun, we're excited to have you!
JMS Sunflower Walking Sticks
JMS 4th grade students are creating walking sticks by repurposing sunflower stalks grown in the Giving Garden. These walking sticks will be sold to raise money for the White Memorial Foundation because we all use the trails and have learned so much about our environment through White Memorial. Please see the flyer below to order. Supplies are limited!
JMS Sunflower Seed Company
The mission of JMS Sunny Seeds Seed Co. is to provide organic, raw, nutritional Giving Garden sunflower seeds and to reach out to help others in need. Through the purchase of the seed packets, our customers will help continue our support of local soup kitchens and the Little Guild Animal Shelter and Rescue Center in West Cornwall, CT. This project was started and coordinated by 6th graders. All K-6 students are helping to weigh seeds and make packets.
We hope you'll support this project by purchasing seeds using this order form:

Cold Weather Clothing
As stated in our Student/Parent Handbook, we try to hold recess outdoors whenever possible. Students should wear appropriate clothing such as warm jackets or coats, hats, mittens/gloves and boots during cold and inclement weather. Students without boots must stay on the blacktop area as long as snow covers the playground.
