Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
Library books due back to school by 5/21 please!
We are again running Arrows on the Move this summer. It is a free program and allows you to bring your student to our school libraries all over the district throughout the summer. Lowell’s Englehardt Library will be teaming up with us this summer as well. It is so important to keep your child reading throughout the summer, and if you don’t make it a goal, it is easy to let the reading slip. Please consider signing your child up for this. I am also encouraging our students to access IXL online throughout the summer.
Your student should be receiving MAP reports soon. These reports show how your child has grown from the fall of this school year in math and reading. I am VERY impressed with our scores this spring. As a school, our scores show that Bushnell students, as a whole, are higher academically than students across the nation and have grown significantly more than these same students. Although we do very well, we still use these MAP scores to evaluate our teaching and learning and look for areas of instruction where we can improve. If you have any questions about these scores, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kindergarten Roundup Visitation appointments will be held on June 8 and 9, 2021. Parents with incoming kindergarten students who did not attend GSRP or Curiosity Corner preschools, be on the lookout for an email with signup info coming soon.
The Schools of Choice application window is coming to a close (May 14), so notification of acceptance should be coming soon as well.
Next week is the last week of the FROM food fight! Please have your student bring some food items, personal items and paper goods to school, where they will be counted in homerooms. Each food item earns our school 1 point towards a friendly competition between schools. Monetary donations can also be given, and school will tally 4 points per dollar. Here is a link to donate: https:// www.mygiving.net/campaign/Food-Fight-2021. Help us bring home the traveling FOOD FIGHT trophy and share what you can. Thank you!
Don’t forget to check out all of the summer camps that are taking place this summer. There are many great sports camps to choose from. Go to www.lowellsportscamps.com to sign up! Deadline is May 20th if you want to ensure receiving a t-shirt.
Have a good weekend all!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Erin Walters

Annual update
Attention families, we are asking that all PRIMARY households take a moment to update student information for the 2021-22 school year. This information will be used in place of the information cards usually completed in the fall. It is extremely important that this information is updated before the end of this school year. We are requesting that this be completed by May 28th.
Be sure to update ALL health information - only information shown during this process will be inside your child’s account.
This document will explain how to complete the process. There is also a video posted at the bottom of the document to show you what this process looks like.
Transportation Out of Boundary - For schools of choice or out of boundary students, you must complete this update in order to request transportation for next year. Transportation is not guaranteed for out of boundary students or schools of choice students. Transportation will be first come, first served and based upon availability for out of boundary students.
Secondary Households - we also ask that you update your information. Please see the bottom of the instruction document for information.
