School of Saint Mary FYI
November 5, 2021
Notes from Mrs. Maricle
1. Picture Retakes: If you would like your student to have a retake, please write retake on the packet that went home and return it to the office. Students will not be taken for a retake without the returned packet. Retakes are scheduled for Monday, November 8th.
2. Light the Way Drive: Thank you to everyone that contributed to the drive! We dropped off 99 nightlights and 192 lightbulbs for the Afghan Refugee Support Effort by Catholic Charities.
3. Bunko Party: There’s room for several students (3rd-5th) to attend the Bunko Party that Mrs. Rocco and Mrs. Armstrong are hosting this Sunday from 11:00am to 12:45pm. The kids will learn to play Bunko and lunch will be provided. The cost is $30 and proceeds benefit our school! Please contact Mrs. Rocco you are interested in signing up.
4. Friendzy Unit for November: This unit's catchphrase is "You First." Students are learning the importance of considering the needs of others, not just their own needs. More details in letter attached below.

COVID-19 Updates
Week of November 1, 2021-
2 NEW student or staff positives (both in 4th grade- 1 already in quarantine)
5 NEW students and 2 ASC staff in quarantine (including positive case)
*Note: These statistics are for PS-8th Grade.
We are beginning to open up our community some as the numbers of COVID are settling down. We have started outdoor activities with buddies and we are welcoming parents to All-School Mass that have a student participating in the leading of Mass.
COVID Testing: The Task Force has given approval for families to use either a PCR Test or a Molecular ID Test to return from quarantine. Saint Francis offers a free drive thru clinic that yields results in 24 hours.
Grace and Understanding: This is a gentle reminder that we need to be following in our Heavenly Father's footsteps in giving people grace and understanding during these difficult times with COVID. We field so many calls a day asking for guidance to ensure everyone is doing the right thing. Yes, COVID is real and scary, however, we also have students and staff suffering from seasonal allergies, head colds, pink eye, stomach bugs and various other ailments that could present as COVID. So much is unknown so we need to unite as a community to lift each other up each day and trust that each of us is doing their best for our school.
Note: We want families to be our partners in navigating school during a pandemic. If you have COVID comfort concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. We are doing our very best to make accommodations as we can.
The School of Saint Mary Health and Wellness Plan for 2021-22 is posted below. We want to remind everyone that we review data often and we are committed to our plan being a evolving document based on trends in our area.

Announcements
Field Trips Drivers: Due to the lack of bus drivers, we will likely be asking parents to drive on future field trips for grades 3-8. All drivers MUST complete Virtus training and have a valid background check. If you think you will likely be a volunteer on a future field trip and want to get Virtus taken care of, please contact Courtney Leonard at cleonard@churchofsaintmary.com to get the process started.
