Heritage 4th, 5th, and 6th graders:
It is Spelling Bee season! We just wanted to give you a heads up that the classroom spelling bees will be held after the start of the next term between Wednesday, January 19, and Friday, February 4th. Feel free to contact your teacher to get a more specific idea of when your teacher plans to hold his or her classroom bees.
The top 3 spellers in each classroom bee will be invited to participate in the school spelling bee, which will be held after school on Friday, February 11. There will be no semifinal school bee as there was last year, and masks will not be required in accordance with current school practices. More details about the schoolwide bee will follow as the time gets closer.
Attached are links to the rules and word lists to study. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mrs. Tanner, the faculty spelling bee coordinator, or Julie Powell, the PTA spelling bee coordinator.
Have a great winter break!

January is "I can DO HARD THINGS and I will."
Typically January is a month where a lot of new goals are set. As you set goals with your children, encourage them to do things that might be hard for them but will help them progress.
Here are some examples:
Read 2 extra minutes every day
Practice math facts for 5 extra minutes
Participate in your class spelling bee
Say "hi" to someone at school
Invite someone to play with you during recess
The more we practice doing things that seem hard the easier they will become.
