The J-List
Tuesday, August 11, 2020
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you refreshed and ready for a new school year at JES. We are anxiously awaiting your return on August 24th whether it be through Dragon Virtual Academy (DVA) or at the JES campus face-to-face (FTF). Regardless of the educational platform you've chosen for your family, the teachers and staff are ready to fill the year with learning, laughter, and lots of fun.
Below you will find a lot of important information. PLEASE take the time to read it carefully. We are still working on procedures for arrival and dismissal and the first day of school, and will communicate those later this week or the early part of next week.
We are asking every JES family to please fill out the Dismissal form by Wednesday, August 19th by 4:00 pm. You will fill this out AFTER you know who your teacher is. This will help us coordinate dismissal more efficiently.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
Dr. Moses

SUPPLY DROP-OFF FOR FTF STUDENTS
- Delivering supplies early will keep students from having to carry everything on the first day of school.
- Supplies will be ready to go for the first day of school.
- You will get a name tag(s) for your child to wear the first week of school.
- *5 name tags for Kinder (one for each day of the week)
- *3 name tags for 1st Grade (one for Monday through Wednesday)
- *2 name tags for 2nd Grade (one for Monday and Tuesday)
- *1 name tag for 3rd Grade (Monday)
- *1 name tag for 4th Grade (Monday)
- You will also get your car rider sign and/or walker tag if applicable. Please use your signs/tags from last year if you have them!
- Everyone stay in your car, please!
- Please write your name, your teacher's name, and your grade level on your school supplies.
- You might "see" your teacher, but this is not a time to "meet the teacher."
If you have a sibling, you can drop all supplies off at the same time; however, the only teachers who will be outside is the grade level assigned to the designated time. If you are dropping off at a different time than assigned, please make sure the teacher name and student name are on the supplies.
Supply Drop-off Tuesday, August 18th
8:00 - 8:30 am - Kindergarten
8:30 - 9:00 am - 1st Grade
9:00 - 9:30 am - 2nd Grade
9:30 - 10:00 am - 3rd Grade

6:00 - 7:00 pm - Any Grade (Administrator on Duty)
If you are unable to drop off on this day, please email Dr. Moses/Mrs. Williams to schedule an alternate time.
DURING THIS TIME, WE WILL GIVE YOU A NAME TAG FOR THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL. PLEASE WRITE YOUR CHILD'S FIRST AND LAST NAME, THEIR GRADE LEVEL, AND THEIR TEACHER ON THIS NAME TAG. There will be multiple name tags for K-2 because it takes them longer to learn how to walk to their teacher's classroom. The tags help teachers direct them to the appropriate location in case the child forgets the name of their teacher.
We will also give you your car rider sign and/or walker tag if you do not have one from last year.

Virtual Meet the Teacher
Friday, August 21st
Meet the Teacher will be virtual for both DVA and FTF students. Your teacher will contact you with a Zoom link. Please know: this time is for STUDENTS to get to know their teacher. Our teachers will spend the first half of Meet the Teacher focused on just welcoming students. The second half of Meet the Teacher will address parents directly about specifics for the first week of school. Teachers will NOT be covering specific health/safety procedures during their Meet the Teacher presentations (outside of friendly reminders or suggestions to help stay organized).
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR FTF STUDENTS
On the first day of school, please make sure your child is wearing a name tag with their first and last name, grade level, and teacher on it so we can welcome them and help them find their classroom. We will pass out these name tags during School Supply Drop-Off.

Welcome Dragons!

Parent Information
MASK FAQ
FYI FOR PARENTS
- Water fountains/refilling stations will be turned off this year (there is not a way to turn off just the fountain but keep the refilling station on - we asked). Please pack an extra water bottle in your child's backpack.
- All students (both DVA and FTF) need to have their own set of headphones. Please see this letter for more information.
Visiting JES
- Push Buzzer/Show Photo ID: Visitors will approach the door, push the buzzer and let the office staff know what their purpose is for requesting to be on campus. Be prepared to show your picture ID and pull down your mask temporarily if asked.
- Delivering Essential Items: Parents dropping off essential items for their child will be asked to step into the man trap (foyer area), write their child's name on the item and leave it on a table in the man trap before exiting. A staff member with the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will retrieve the item for delivery to the student. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE limit your drop-offs to just essentials. We won't tell you you cannot bring your child lunch, but please know we are incredibly short-handed in the office due to the new restrictions in the nurse's clinic. Please send lunch to school with your child and avoid dropping it off. This will help our front office out SO much. Thank you! :)
- Checking Out Your Child: Those parents who are checking their child out of school will step into the man trap (foyer area) and follow the instructions to put on gloves and a mask if you don't have one, before being admitted into the office to sign your child out using the Raptor machine. Then step back into the man trap to wait for your child to be released.
- On-Campus Meeting/Event: If you have a face-to-face meeting or appointment on campus, you will follow all the same instructions above, but you will also be required to fill out a Health Screening Questionnaire on the Raptor machine and then step to the front desk behind the plexiglass to have your temperature taken by a staff member using a touchless forehead thermometer. If you pass the health screening and do not have a temperature of 100 or greater, you will be allowed into the academic wing, still wearing the mask and gloves, and encouraged to proceed directly to the area where your meeting is located while maintaining social distancing.
All visitor screening procedures will be strictly enforced.
No parents or visitors will be allowed to join students for lunch for at least the fall semester.
