The happiest place on earth...PRS
Disney hasn't got anything on us!
Who we are...
And my personal/professional opinion on reading "old favorites"...Children develop a LOVE of the story, stimulating imagination, and recognition of sight words.
After we read about our favorite characters, we made "character map." These maps help us identify and describe qualities of that character. Then we made character maps about ourselves.

Shared Journal
I love hearing each and every story! For real!! In addition to listening skills, retelling skills, and writing skills, this process also builds community. Learners celebrate the similarities and differences among one another by relating to each others stories. We draw closer together when we get to know each other better.
- Bryson went to a Brave vs. Marlins baseball game.
- Amy Kate has a cat that is friends with her 2 dogs.
- Christian went to a water park called Wild Adventure with his church.
- Lily went to Destin beach with her family. She caught seahorses and crabs.
- Kamiyah went to a water park called White Water.
Looking forward to stories from these friends next week:
- MONDAY-Lilly Grace
- TUESDAY-Ajah
- WEDNESDAY-Kinslee
- THURSDAY-Jermaine
- FRIDAY-Henley
Thank you so much for helping your child organize their stories before there turn to share and giving them an opportunity to practice. This helps them recall details accurately and retell details in the correct sequence.
Journal resource
If you have a learner that does not tell you anything about their day, this is a go-to question..."Who shared today? Tell me about it." This will surely get them talking and practice retelling those stories again.

Lunches
On Wednesdays, learners will have the choice of a Chick-fil-A sandwich. (As of this week, the sandwich only is $3.75 and does not come with sides or a drink). Changes may be coming...I will let you know. Many learners just ordered a sandwich. My mom hat goes on...make sure they know if they can get extra items in the line on chick-fil-a days or have them bring sides from home.
On Fridays, learners will have the opportunity to buy Nancy's Italian Ice for $1.25 (note the price increase).
Learners may purchase Chick fil A and Nancy's in one of two ways:
- through their lunch account (many do not know if they have money in their accounts)
- in cash
Until we get accustomed to these new freedoms, please discuss specifically with your learners if the ARE or ARE NOT going to be getting Chick-fil-A and/or Nancy's.
