Women in History Comes to Meadows on 3/3 and the Week of 3/9

We are very excited for our annual Women in History program at Meadows. Every year the AAUW (American Association of University Women) select six prestigious women to recognize for their outstanding achievements and contributions to society. This program is a long standing tradition at Meadows and across 12 other local schools in the Santa Clarita Valley. Our parent volunteers have been very busy learning their parts and will don their costumes as they present these important figures to our classrooms. Thank you Emily Verdi, Kira Barlow, Genny Wilson, Lisa Howard, Richelle Boyd, and Alec Isbell-Torres for volunteering your time with this program.

Card Board Playground Returns This Week 3/5

Cardboard Playground returns on Thursday during TK-6 grade lunch periods (roughly 11am-1:30pm) and will be open to all students. As another option of playing, students will be able to build and use their imaginations to create with cardboard while learning and practicing the skills of collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.

How can one get involved?

1. Sign up to volunteer by emailing Stacey.Hamblin@yahoo.com or RichelleBoyd@mac.com. This isn’t just limited to Meadows parents. Grandparents and family members over age 18 may volunteer. Also, if you can't stay the entire 11-1:30 timeframe, that's ok too. We are working to ensure adequate coverage to allow for flexibility. Here is the lunch schedule:

· Setup & TK/K: 11-Noon

· Grades 1-3: Noon-12:45

· Grades 4-6: 12:45-1:45pm

2. Donate materials. Watch for material drop off events, where we will be seeking clean, staple-free, safe cardboard materials (recycled paper rolls, boxes, etc.), duct tape, markers, etc.

3. Encourage your child to come play, explore and be creative with their friends.

See you on the Cardboard Playground.
