COVID-19 Updates
The health and safety precautions in the Park Hill School District are constantly evolving during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Starting with the second semester on January 4, here is what will be different:
Here are some of the things that will stay the same (complete list of health and safety precautions):
- Isolation of Sick People: We will continue to require anyone who tests positive for COVID to stay home for 10 days, beginning on the date of the positive test or on the first day symptoms appeared. In compliance with state law, we will provide those cases to the local health department.
- Notification: We will still notify families and employees about cases in Park Hill. We will let families and staff know if there is a positive case in their building. We will also provide a message to families if there is someone with COVID in any of your child’s classrooms. It will be the health departments that will let you know if there needs to be a time of quarantine.
- Dashboard: We will still provide weekly data about cases on our online COVID dashboard. We will no longer track quarantines, since those will be handled by the health departments.
- Testing: We will still provide antigen testing for students and staff who have symptoms or who are currently quarantined. Families of students should contact their school nurses, who can help them request and schedule a test. Staff members should contact their supervisors and then call the testing site. Consent forms are on the website if you want to request an antigen test.
- Partnering with You: If a student or a staff member is sick, it is more important than ever that they stay home. Please help us keep our community safe by being cautious and staying away, even if you think an illness could be allergies. The nurse at your school will be happy to help you talk through your symptoms.
Math Carnival: Volunteers Needed!
The carnival will include: Math Games in our classrooms, Gift Baskets and Silent Auction items, Shooting Hoops Basketball game in the gym, Math Cake Walk, a Concession Stand and a Book Fair!
Would you like to be a planning committee member? If so, please reach out to Katie Betts for more information! Her email is bettsk@parkhill.k12.mo.us

Awards will be presented to the top ten finishers. All current Park Hill 5th-8th graders are eligible, but students must sign up by January 31st. Register thru the link below, or by going to the district website and selecting “spelling bee” under the Family section. You may also contact your school office for assistance.
Holiday Safety
The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can be a fun, exciting time. However, holiday decorations, parties and cold weather can pose threats to children.
Keep these safety tips from the Mayo Clinic in mind while preparing for the holidays:
If you have a real tree, make sure the tree stand is always filled with water so the tree doesn't dry out and pose an increased fire hazard. If you buy an artificial tree, make sure it is made from fire-retardant material. Make sure the stand is flat on the ground, and decorate the tree to equally distribute weight.
Do not leave children alone in a room with lighted candles, matches, lighters, fireplaces or any other sources of flame or heat.
Keep decorations out of reach of children and secured to the wall. Any object small enough to fit through a toilet paper tube can obstruct the airway of a child.
Keep mistletoe, holly berries and poinsettias out of reach of children and animals as each is toxic when ingested.
Use power strips with built-in circuit breakers. Avoid putting too many plugs into one electrical outlet. Keep cords out of the way or behind furniture, and insert electrical outlet covers into any unused outlets.
Purchase lights with the UL Listed mark which certifies that the product has been tested to meet safety requirements.
Make sure your children’s toys are age-appropriate and the batteries cannot be easily removed. Batteries shaped like disks, or button batteries, pose a choking risk to young children.
Keep alcohol out of reach of children. Quickly clean up leftover drinks.
Dress your child properly for the weather, making sure that their hands, feet and heads are covered.
Supervise children and make sure they wear the correct safety gear for sledding, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and other outdoor activities.
Most importantly, have a fun and safe holiday break!
