Principal Update
Hello November!
I can't believe we just completed our 1st quarter of the school year already! Time sure flies when we're having fun. As we begin the 2nd quarter, I'd like to share with you some of the things I am most thankful for at BRMES:
- Our School Family ~ what great kids, staff, and families we have.
- Outdoor Learning Opportunities ~ the outdoor classroom, walking path (Walk-tober), frisbee golf, walking field trips, and all of the adventures in the forest around the school.
- Volunteers ~ the log book is already filling up - amazing support.
- PTA ~ another successful Tortoise & the Hare, and a t-shirt contest and craft/bake sale coming soon.
- New Programs/Ideas ~ Monday Morning Meetings are up and going, art, Spanish, Miss Meg's lessons, 5th grade leadership, and soon we'll be adding ukelele's in music class and the PALs program (see below).
Take a moment this month to appreciate what you are most thankful for and enjoy the joy of learning with your child(ren). I am especially grateful to your continued support for the staff and your child(ren).

Walk-tober Results
Way to go BRMES students, staff, and parents who helped us by participating in Idaho's Walk-tober challenge! We walked approximately 8.400 laps from October 1-31 at lunch time recess on our new awesome walking path (which will soon turn into a bike path as well). This equated to just over 1,680 miles!
Thank you to Rich Prittie, Katie Wright, Yadi Spangenberg, Stephanie Day, Cora Coleman, Kim-e Weller, Pat Berg, and Lisa Montague for being a 'tally mark' volunteer to help us track all those laps!
NEW! Playground Activity Leader (PAL) ~ Help Wanted!
Our Playground Activity Leader (PAL) Program is a new program we are launching this month. It is a volunteer program where caring adults are available during lunch time recess to be a positive role model and play/converse with our elementary aged students. This program will help develop self-esteem, strengthen peer relationships and promote positive school interactions.
We are hoping to find 1-2 volunteers per day to be an outside Playground Activity Leader one day per week/month or whatever you can do. Times vary from 11:15-12:15 or 12:00-1:00 on all school days. Activities you could do (but are not limited to):
- Play a game (ie. basketball, soccer, frisbee golf, 4 square, football, jumprope, hoola hoop, etc.)
- Walk and Talk
- Sit and Talk
- Chalk Art on the sidewalks
- Explore nature on the playground
- Help a child on the buddy bench
- Enjoy the playground equipment (ie. monkey bars, swings, tire swing, etc.)
How do you get started?
- Simply use this online link to submit your information electronically OR print and turn in the interest form from our website here.
- Share our PAL program with any adults in the community who could be interested (ie. senior citizens, neighbors, retirees, community groups, working parents who need a lunch ‘break’, etc.)
- Wait for a response from our school team. You will be sent the handbook, wait on a background check verification, and sign an agreement.
- On your first day, we will have someone to show you around and get you started.
- Log your volunteer hours and you're done...until the next time!
