The end of the year is fast approaching and I still can’t believe it! Our teachers have been writing school reports and this has been a very busy few weeks. As I read each student’s report I am very proud to see the progress that students have made. Each one is unique and has different strengths and different areas that they need to develop in their learning journey. The reports provide a snapshot in time of how your child is achieving and the particular next steps for learning in each subject. I have been particularly pleased to note the progress of our junior school students in reading. The Better Start Literacy Approach has given all of our year 0-2 students a tremendous boost. This has been reflected in the data we have received from our testing and the University of Canterbury's analysis of this. I would like to thank all of our staff for the hard work they have put in this year to try and enhance the learning of our students. It’s been another year of challenges and no doubt next year will be the same.

May God bless you and protect you

Faith Fact
Perhaps in the coming Advent weeks you could pray this prayer each day in your home.
Light up our lives
Christ, come into our world of darkness
Light up our lives with your coming.
Fulfil all our longings with the joy of your birth
Strengthen our resolve to work for change in our world
And to share the hope of your birth that each Advent brings.
Amen.

Vaccination Mandate for Education Employees and Volunteers
At St Mary’s School, we fully comply with the vaccine mandate which became law recently. This mandates that employees and volunteers in schools must have received their first Covid 19 vaccination by Tuesday 16 November and are required to be fully vaccinated by the 1st of January 2022.
The vaccine mandate also requires that volunteers who have contact with students must also be fully vaccinated. Please note the important information below which will affect some parents/caregivers:
- Parents/caregivers dropping off, picking up, or settling children and attending parent-teacher interviews at a school are NOT required to be vaccinated.
- Parents, caregivers or volunteers at an education outside the classroom (EOTC), learning experience outside the classroom (LEOTC) programme or excursion ARE required to be vaccinated. This includes parents/caregivers helping in classes at school.
Should you wish to clarify any of these details please see Mr O’Neill who will be happy to answer any questions.
COVID-19 -Please wear masks for pickup and drop off
Please remember that if you are entering the school grounds you need to scan the COVID tracer QR code at the entrance gate or on the office window. If you are staying in the school for more than a few minutes you must also sign in at the school office.
