Our committee’s goals include identifying students needing support, integrating multiple sources of data in our decision making, and ensuring implementation of supports with action plans and progress monitoring.
Additionally, we want to connect with families to make them aware of the many programs South Windsor High School has to support our students. Grade 11: Juniors Gearing Up for Senior Year
As we make our way through the second half of the year, it is time for the Class of 2024 to look ahead to senior year (and beyond!). If you have not done so already, schedule a Junior Planning Meeting with your school counselor. These sessions with students, their parents/guardians, and their school counselor are essential for students to prepare for the months ahead. The Junior Planning Meeting will provide an opportunity to assess where students stand with completing graduation requirements and what their goals are for after graduation. Whether that is college, military or straight to a career, counselors will help map out what steps to take to get there. Students interested in a college search will discuss what schools might be a good fit and how to start exploring them.

CLUB SPOTLIGHT: The Environmental Club
The Environmental Club is a student-led organization where the purpose is for students to explore various environmental issues and create yearly avenues to address some of those issues. Three main themes precipitated out of students’ interest this year: recycling, planting, and community outreach. The school-wide bottle and can recycling program has expanded to include an electronics recycling event in collaboration with the Town of South Windsor. The club purchased (and will be planting) two trees on SWHS property this year. Students are also growing spring flowers from bulbs and selling them as a fundraiser for the trees. Community outreach continues to be a mainstay of the group where the club works with the town Environmental Planner on an invasive plant website, Park and Rec Department on an Earth Day celebration, and Pleasant Valley 5th grade classes on climate change issues. The club is advised by Mrs. Eitel and students are welcome to join throughout the year.
