Morning Drop Off Reminders and Updates for K-8 Students
1st-8th students should not arrive to MLC before 8:15 a.m. At that time, students will need to wait outside until 8:25 unless they are eating breakfast. Breakfast students may enter the cafeteria at 8:15. Students may not enter the other areas of the school until 8:25 to start the school day at 8:30 a.m.
Unfortunatley, we do not have enough staff to monitor all areas of the building and outdoors before those times. Teachers and staff are preparing for the day.
We want to make sure all students are safe and in designated areas where there is adequate supervision.
Kindergarten students will now be dropped off and picked up in the Kindergarten classroom! Teacher Sarah will be reaching out with more details about this change. :)

NOVEMBER IS NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
Student Spotlight
Great things are happening at MLC! Here is this week's student spotlight:
For the second year in a row, MLC is partnering with Sources of Strength, a youth suicide prevention program designed to harness the power of peer social networks to create a school where everyone feels like they belong and are connected. Sources of Strength mobilizes a group of powerful Peer Leaders to be agents of change and connectors to help in our school community. One of our 8th grade students, Genevieve, is taking a leadership role and helping Clement and other Adult Advisors to implement the program through teaching an elective class and organizing larger peer leader meetings.
This upstream model strengthens multiple sources of support (protective factors) around young individuals so that when times get hard, they can leverage their strengths.
We recently hosted a Peer Leader training with about 30 students who were nominated from our 7th and 8th grade cohort (see pic!). They did awesome! Many of our support staff and teachers were also trained as Adult Advisors and will be supporting the students. There will be opportunities throughout the year for these Peer Leaders to meet and design campaigns to spread the message of hope, help, and strength to the MLC community. Stay tuned!

MLC Open House for Prospective 2023-24 6x12 Students!
If you know of a 6x12 family that is interested in joining our school community next school year- PLEASE SHARE! (Kx5 will be held at a later date)
We are having our annual 6x12 Open House on Tuesday, November 29th at 6pm. Please join us to learn about our exciting program; academics, traditions, and opportunities.
All are welcome!
The Enrollment and Transfer Center manages transfers, applications and waitlists for all PPS schools. The MS and HS Transfer Cycle is open from November 15th through December 16th. Please see their website for additional information.

Greetings from the PTSA! Here's what we've got cooking this week and there's even more information on our website at MLCPTSA.org.
Craft Faire is coming! The MLC Craft Faire is a beloved event where even the youngest crafter can sell their wares. This year's Faire will take over the MLC Auditorium on December 8, 2022 from 3:30-5PM. Student vendors sell free, adult vendors pay $20/table.
We are looking for a few parents to host crafting tables at the Craft Faire. Please email Sheila: sheilagirardhanson@gmail.com if you are interested in teaching a craft or just re-loading glue guns.
Students can request a scholarship to purchase supplies for their sellable craft. Some very kind Craft Elves donated gift cards to Michaels so that every student can participate in the Faire. To request a scholarship, fill out the signup link: https://forms.gle/3FHci1qbr4dWGEVC6
