SEPTEMBER 7, 2022 - NEWSLETTER
Hello SLP Schools Online Families,
SLP Online has had a positive start to the school year. It was good to see many of you last week at our Meet & Greet/Family Information Session. We enjoyed this opportunity to meet in person.
This week, each of our students and at-home coaches will have a chance to meet 1:1 with their learning advocate. This meeting will kick off the year by providing the learning advocate an opportunity to learn more about your child and begin to work with you to design upcoming learning experiences.
Here are a few important things to know:
- Resources to Support Student Learning: If you were unable to come to the Meet & Greet last week, we have a bag of resource materials for your student. These items will support student learning over the next several weeks. Please stop by the Lighthouse School main office anytime Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. to pick up the resource bag. The address: 7925 Able Street NE, Spring Lake Park
- Start Your Engines Event: The Panther Foundation and Community Education Department are hosting a “Start Your Engines” event this Saturday, September 10, in the Spring Lake Park High School parking lot. All are welcome! There will be big trucks, food trucks and automobiles. We hope you can stop by to kick off the year with us.
- Attendance: Regular attendance and engagement in learning benefits a student’s academic progress and social development. Students will be marked "present" if they engage in daily meaningful interactions with their learning, at-home coach and/or learner advocate (teacher). Students and at-home coaches will submit a reflection each school day sharing: What did you do to support your learning today? What do you plan to do tomorrow to support your learning?
It is going to be a great year. We are glad that you have chosen to partner with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me. I am happy to help.
