Week 9
We are starting on Week 9, Unit 5, La Tecnología. Although students are expected to be working on Unit 5 this week and lessons 1 and 2 are due this Friday, March 18, Unit 5 does NOT go on the 1st quarter.
Below is a list of this week's assignments (due by Friday, March 18 @ 11:55pm).
Required Lived Classes for Unit 5
Students have 4 opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 5 this week and 3 opportunities next week. Please encourage your student to look at the schedule and attend a live class as they will have interaction with the teacher and can ask questions. If your student is unable to attend an RLC for Unit 5, tell them to contact me for information on making up the RLC.
Still time to complete and submit last week's (WEEK 8) assignments for the 1st 9 weeks!
Week 8 assignments were due this past Friday, March 11, but as always we give an "extra week" for students to turn in assignments. Students have until this Friday, March 18 @ 11:55pm to complete and submit Week 8 assignments. These 8 assignments count in 1st 9 week's average, so it is very important that students complete these assignments to improve his/her average. Please speak with your student and ask he/she if they have completed these assignments.
Students need to do these assignments by Friday, March 18 @ 11:55pm when the assignments will close:
- Unit 4 Required Live Class
- 4.4 Prueba de Vocabulario
- 4.4 Escuchar prueba
- 4.5 Prueba de Vocabulario
- 4.5 Actividad Cultural
- U4 eLinguaFolio & Reflection
These two are 25% of your grade:
- U3/4 Proyecto Final
- Proyecto Final: Leer y Escuchar prueba
Have you checked your student's grades?
Several parents have asked me how to check their student's grades. You need to have the student's log-in and password. Here is a screencast of how to check grades on Moodle. (It is for a Spanish 1 class, so the assignments are different than our Spanish 3 class.)
Culture Cafe for Extra Credit for Participation Grade
Students have the opportunity to attend sessions in the Culture Cafe for extra credit. This week students have a Culture Cafe session they can attend, Arabic: Mother's Day and Family Ties. The extra credit for attending a Culture Cafe goes towards the student's participation grade. In addition, students can attend any of the sessions as it does not have to be about Spanish. Below is information about the session this week. Students can click on the Culture Cafe Block/Button on the main Moodle page to enter the session. After attending a Culture Cafe session, students will complete a reflection about the class and submit it for extra credit.
Keys to Student Success
The main keys to being successful are:
- completing all assignments (*well and on time*) (using the Schedule of Assignments), reading the announcements/learning block daily, checking/reading messages daily
- going through the direct instruction and practice as slow as needed to understand the material
- taking/studying notes, reviewing the grades/feedback for all assignments to see what was missed and why
- attending the required live classes
- asking questions when something doesn't make sense and/or more explanation/practice is needed
