Valentine's Day Celebration

On February 11th we will be having a celebration of friendship. We will be making mailboxes for students to "mail" their cards. I am asking you to provide cards from your child addressed to the other five children in the class. If anyone has any empty tissue boxes they could donate, it would be appreciated.

After mailing our cards, we will have a friendship celebration when the children will get to choice a compliment to use about each friend. We will close our celebration with ice cream sundaes. Donations of ice cream, syrups, or cream topping would be appreciated. Please no nuts due to allegies in the classroom! Volunteers are welcome to join us!

Ed-Venture Field Study

On February 26th, 2016 we will taking our first trip as a class. We will be spending two hours touring the ED-Venture Children's Museum. We will have lunch while there and then return to school around 12:30. Please look out for the Permission Slip in your child's Friday Folder.

Spring Olympics

We will be participating in the Area 7 Spring Olympics on April 15th, 2016 at White Knoll High School. The event begins at 9 a.m. I believe I have the necessary paperwork for most students in order to register. I will contact you individually if there is a problem with anything. We are currently looking around for the best place to get T-shirts printed for this event. I will keep you updated.

Health and Welfare

I wanted to provide you with some news about people who provide services in our room. Miss Sophia, our Physical Therapist, had her baby on Saturday. Both Mother and baby Jack are doing well. Jack arrived a little early but weighed in at 6lb 10oz. We will have a P.T. To fill in for her beginning next week, but at this time I am unsure if she will be following Miss Sophia's schedule. I will let you know how she will be providing services once I have met her and found out this information.

On another note, I wanted to let you know that Wanda Brasington will be out for the rest of the school year. Wanda has given us permission to let you know that she will be having surgery tomorrow on her back to remove a cyst and to stabilize discs that have been causing her a lot of pain. Once this is repaired, her doctor has recommended a similar procedure in her neck area. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has let us know that she is looking at a recovery time of about 6 months. During her absence we will be looking at getting someone in on a long term substitute basis. Again, I will let you know who this is once everything is approved. Thank you for your patience in this matter please note that we will work as quickly as we can to make this change.
