Absentee Ballots Go Out September 21: Request Yours Today!
Did you know that, due to the passage of the statewide ballot proposal 18-3, all eligible and registered voters in Michigan may now request an absentee voter ballot without providing a reason? You no longer have to drive to your voting precinct and stand in line in order for your vote to be counted.
That means, for the November 5, 2019, school bond election, any registered voter can vote in person or by absentee ballot, which will be made available by September 21. Absentee ballot requests must be received by your clerk no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, November 1. If you’re already registered at your current address, you can pick up an absent voter ballot in person at your clerk’s office anytime up to 4 p.m. on the day prior to the election.
Once you have received your absentee ballot, you have until 8 p.m. on election day to return it to the clerk's office. Your ballot will not be counted unless your signature is on the return envelope and matches your signature on file.
For more information on the 2019 School Bond, visit LapeerSchools.org and click the graphic on the main page. You can also download the absentee voter application.
For more information, contact Jared Field, Director of Communications, at jfield@lapeerschools.org.
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications Should be Completed by All Families
I’m writing to let you know how important it is to fill out the school meal application form by downloading it below and returning it to school if you haven't already done so. I am encouraging all of our families to complete the form.
Some parents are concerned about listing income amounts and social security numbers on the application. Any personal information you provide will not be shared:
- Free and reduced price meal applications are confidential. Your information will only be used to determine your child’s eligibility for the school meal programs. We cannot share your information without your written permission.
- Students who receive free and reduced price meals are not identified. No other students, staff, or teachers need to know who is receiving free or reduced meals and who has paid. All children that choose to receive a meal at school go through the lunch line the exact same way.
There is one very important reason to fill out this form: The more families that file applications with our district, the greater the possibilities of increasing our funding, which equates to greater educational services to you and your children.
Please take a few minutes to fill out this form to help us determine whether your child may qualify for these important benefits.
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications

**Please note: Your application for the 2019-2020 school year must be dated July 1, 2019 or after. Your student’s lunch benefit from the 2018-19 school year will carry over for the first 30 attendance days of the 2019-20 school year. After 10-09-2019, the benefit will reset. IF we have not received and approved a new Free/Reduced application for your household, your child(ren) will be charged the full price for meals eaten after the above mentioned date. **
