Leadership Message
While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed, he asked them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of baked fish; he took it and ate it in front of them.
Luke 24:41-43
As we continue our Easter season of joy, we are invited by God to enter into His Glory and Grace! The disciples were so full of joy and at the same time, hesitant to believe it could really be Jesus. Could it really be that He conquered death and was once again back with them? Like the disciples, we too can be hesitant to truly experience the joy of Resurrection. We can easily let the weight of the world, our sins, and the sins of others get to us. Easter reminds us of the presence of God’s love and mercy that is always with us. The victory of the Resurrection can help us turn our eyes and hearts away from the disappointments, pain, and sorrows we face and turn to God for His ever-present Love and Grace.
We can help share this faith and trust with our children when worries and hesitations arise in their worlds. Reminding them every day that they are inherently loved, wonderfully made, and so incredibly valued is a beautiful commitment we can all make to the children in our JV village.

Gearing up for Year 3 of the One-to-One Technology Program
With the successful implementation of the One to One technology program, EICS is excited to enter into year 3 of the initiative.
Beginning in September of 2018-2019, the option to purchase or lease to own a Chromebook will be offered by Staples and not directly from the school.
Because of the positive feedback we’ve received from you about the service and support provided by Staples, we continue to recommend them to our parent community.
Here is a link to their most recent offer, which now includes payment options.
We will continue to maintain a small inventory of Chromebooks at the school in the event that the student forgets to bring or charge their own device.
Any further questions, please contact your school administration.

Learning through Competencies
We are focusing on using the language and philosophies of learning through the competencies at Jean Vanier. Through competencies, students develop and connect key aspects of knowing, thinking and doing across a variety of learning contexts, both within and outside school. As students develop competencies through learner outcomes, they acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes that contribute to their success as lifelong learners and active citizens.

We are St. Sophia’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish… a community of over 250 members mostly residing in and around Strathcona County. This year is a very exciting time for our Parish as we have made the announcement to start development of a brand new church in Sherwood Park. Over the years we have had many fundraisers to realize this goal and we are now commencing preparations for our 7th Annual Golf Tournament and once again are looking for your support.
The primary focus of the tournament is to have fun and encourage interaction amongst St. Sophia parishioners and friends, while raising much-needed funds for the parish and its goal of building our new church in the community.
The tournament will be held at Broadmoor Golf Course on Saturday, June 9th (see additional information below). Just like last year, there will be the many complimentary food and beverage holes for golfers to enjoy.
There also will be an Early Bird Prize drawn for those golfers that register and pay by Monday, May 7th. The Early Bird Prize is a round of golf including a cart and dinner at the Broadmoor Golf Course – valued at over $400!
Last year we had a full roster for the tournament and registrations are already filling up quickly!
Hope to see you out there!
