Field Day
Dear Parents,
The B.E.S.T. field day is finally here and the excitement is building. The 2017 B.E.S.T. Field Day will be held on Friday, May 19. Monday May 22 is the rain make-up date. We will again be utilizing Colleyville City Park for this event.
Field Day preparation and activities will begin promptly at 7:45 a.m. If your child is tardy he/she must be checked in through the school office. The office personnel will direct the parent and child with regards to where the child may join his/her class. If your child is tardy DO NOT drop him/her off at the Colleyville City Park, you must first report to the school office to insure proper supervision of your child.
All classes will be walking to the park with a police escort. We will begin with fifth graders leaving the building at 8:05 and then continue leaving by class at approx. 5 min. intervals (4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, K, & Pre-K). The first Field Day event is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
The Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade classes will conclude their events in the morning and will be returning to Bransford with teacher and police escort at 10:45 and 11:15 respectively.
The lunch break for the day will run from 10:45-11:15 for all classes. Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade will eat at the school. All 2nd -5th graders will be eating with their homeroom classes at City Park. Students need to bring a disposable sack lunch and drink from home. If your child forgets his/her lunch we will attempt to contact you. If we are unable to contact you, the school cafeteria will provide a sack lunch and water for your child. The price for the sack lunch is $2.60. No adult/parent lunches will be available through the school cafeteria. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE SCHOOL OR CITY PARK FOR LUNCH.
Each grade level will complete their Field Day activities at the times listed on the following schedule:
Pre-K & Kindergarten = 10:45 1st grade = 11:15 2nd grade = 12:15
3rd grade = 12:45 4th grade = 1:15 5th grade = 1:30
Upon completion of the Field Day events the classes will return to campus along with their teachers and police escort. Restful, educational activities are planned for the remainder of the school day.
If you need to check your child out of school before the regular dismissal time, you may do so by completing the following checkout procedure. Checking your child out is a partial day absence.
Inform the homeroom teacher in person.
When ready to leave, check your child out through the school office OR the checkout center at City Park.
Make sure that you sign the checkout roster in the school office or at the park.
Return the signed blue checkout slip to your child's homeroom teacher when you are ready to leave the building or the park.
In order to insure student safety:
NO CHILD WILL BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE EARLY WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN THEIR PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN OR WITHOUT A WRITTEN/SIGNED NOTE GRANTING PERMISSION FOR THE SPECIFIED ADULT TO CHECK THE CHILD OUT EARLY. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS. INDIVIDUALS CHECKING OUT STUDENTS EARLY MAY BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PICTURE IDENTIFICATION.
If you check your child out early and return to City Park to watch an event or for any other reason your child MUST remain with you at all times. The Kidsville Park will not be available for independent play. The Kidsville park area has been reserved and each grade level will be assigned a specific playtime. Thank you for not bringing dogs to the park during this event.
Parking during Field Day will be limited to the Bransford Elementary lot and designated areas at City Park. Any parking in undesignated areas will result in ticketing by the Colleyville Police Department.
We are all looking forward to a fun day of activities, physical development, and the opportunity to learn about healthy competition and sportsmanship. The activities have all been designed to be developmentally appropriate and with specific curricular objectives in mind. The teachers have been carefully trained with regard to the events that they will be facilitating. All teachers are committed to creating safe and fair events for all participants. There will be a nurse located at City Park who can assist with any medical concerns that occur during the day. Thank you for your support in advance. We look forward to working with you to create a safe, exciting and memorable day for all of our students.
Prior to field day you will receive a schedule of events and a map of event locations at City Park.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Atkins, PE Teacher
