What We're Learning
We've been working on learning more about fiction. Students read and discussed several fiction books to determine the subgenre (mystery, fairy tale, science fiction, etc.) by using text clues. Students learned about transitions that help the reader to know how time has passed in the beginning, middle and end of the book. We also started talking about setting and characters that will help us better understand the plot.
Math
We finished up our angles unit and students took the test Thursday. They had a lot of fun with geometry! We'll be correcting our mistakes from our geometry test and taking the quarterly test next week.
Science
We've been learning about renewable and nonrenewable resources. Students learned about something new, called biomass. We did an experiment with some food scraps and dirt. Ask your child what's happening and what his/her hypothesis is!
Social Studies
We finished up chapter 5 this week and students have learned SO much about the Northeast Region's history and its people. The study guide will be due Tuesday and the test will be Thursday.
