Slovenia joined the European Union on May 1,2004. They were not founders of the European Union.
History and location
Slovenia was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Holy Roman Empire. Slovenia is located in Central Europe and has boarde with Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary. Slovenia has many grasslands, fields, gardens, orchards and vineyards. It stretches across the alps from the Dinaric Alps and Pannonian plain to the Mediterranean.
Flag, Capitol and cities
The Slovenian flag was adopted in 1991. The flag has white, blue and read equal horizontal lines and the Slovenian shield. The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana. Four major cites are Maribor, Celje, Kranj and Velenje.
Tourism and geography
People should definitely visit lake Bled because it's beautiful, Postojra cave because it's the worlds largest monument and Bled Castle because it's the oldest castle there. Slovenia has many mountains, lakes and Alps
Government and currency
The Slovenian government is Parliamentary Republic. Slovenia uses the Euro as a currency right now but they used Tolars before.
Interesting facts
1. If couples marry at the church on Bled island the groom has to carry the bride up and down 99 steps. Wow!!
2. The worlds largest ski jump is in Slovenia. Records have been made.
3. The Capitol Ljubljana is translated to, "the loved one"!
