Week 29: March 23-27
Uncertainty
I'm not going to lie...I've spent a lot of time contemplating the best way to use this space this week. I suspect we all have lots of "needs" that could/should be addressed here: I think the word of the week is uncertainty. When we face uncertain times and situations, it seems that we have two main responses: one takes us down a path of innovation and creativity, the other takes us down a path of procrastination and paralysis. I have reflected on all that has happened in this building over the last week in the face of uncertainty, and I have seen everyone RUN down path one without hesitation. It has been incredible to watch the power and creativity of the educators (and I mean EVERYBODY) in this building, UNLEASHED! You have planned incredible, engaging lessons, assembled supply bags within hours, anticipated problems and crafted solutions, in spite of the fact that we have never encountered anything even remotely like this. You have fed children's tummies, and you have fed family's souls. I walk through the building and I see collaboration and support. I see informal mentoring happening everywhere. You have maintained lines of communication and support to families. You have laughed with each other and cried with each other. When Dr. Gainey discussed the possibility of school closure in a meeting last Friday, he said, "If we close schools, we will make sure it is Randolph County's finest hour." Well, ya'll---without even knowing that bar, you met it and soared right over it. I cannot tell you have thankful, grateful, and amazed I am at the talent, creativity, knowledge, and work ethic that exists in this building. They say the sum is greater than it's individual parts, and Randleman Elementary School is, without a doubt, the epitome of this.
Thank you-a million times over, for your dedication to children.
