Save the Date for Make A Difference Day!

Mark your calendars now for Saturday, October 24th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning is asking all faculty, staff, students, and alumni to participate in and help spread the word about Make a Difference Day!

Make a Difference Day is a national community service event encompassing the most comprehensive nation-wide day of helping others. It is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.

Locally, Fresno State volunteers will have the opportunity to volunteer with local community benefit organizations on several projects.

Volunteers may participate individually or as a group.

Nominations for 2015 John D. Welty Award for Excellence in Community Service

Nominations for the 2015 John D. Welty Award for Excellence in Community Service are now being taken! The awards comes with a $2,500 scholarship and is provided to a student who exemplifies the commitment to service that John Welty championed during his 22 years as President of California State University, Fresno.

In order to be eligible for the award, student must be regularly enrolled, in good academic standing, and meets other university scholarship requirements. More specifically, candidates must have completed a minimum of 150 accredited service hours in the last 12 months. This service can be in combination over multiple semesters and/or different sources. Nominations are due Friday, October 16th.

Volunteer for Freewheel Project

Do you like BMX bike riding? How about golf? Maybe you'd like an opportunity to help support services for disadvantaged children? If so, the Freewheel Project has a volunteer opportunity for you!

Their 4th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Fundraiser will take place at Copper River Country Club on Monday, October 5th from 9am–6:30pm. Volunteers are needed throughout the day and can work short or long shifts as needed.

Volunteer for Rotary Storyland

Rotary Storyland is seeking volunteers to assist with its fundraising event, Princesses and Pirates Fairytale Ball, on Saturday, October 3rd from 6p–8:30pm.

Some of the responsibilities will include working the membership table, helping with park ticket sales, chaperoning performers to their location, working the snack bar, etc.

Volunteer for Malloch Elementary School Carnival

This annual school carnival is a major fundraiser for Malloch Elementary and is sponsored by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Volunteers are needed to help set-up, assist with games, activities, or food booths, and help clean-up.

Shifts include setup 2:30–5pm, carnival 5–8pm, and cleanup 8–9pm.
