Weekly News from Kimball Hill
WEEK of April 12, 2021
A Message from the Principal
Dear Kimball Hill Parents & Guardians,
Thank you to all that participated in our PTA sponsored Pledge drive. Students were so excited to receive their prizes and the company will continue to pull names for random drawings through the week of April 12th. Congratulations to our winners from this past week: a 3rd grader won an IPAD and a 1st grader and two 4th graders each won the Mini-Fridge (bluetooth & speakers included) with $25 cash inside. Our school has raised over $9,000 thus far. The Pledge will end on April 19th.
As always, please reach out to me any time with questions or concerns at lacamerm@ccsd15.net
Warmly,
Michelle LaCamera

Student Sectioning for 2021-22 School Year
During the next several weeks the teachers will begin the process of student sectioning for the 2021 - 2022 school year. In district 15, our school sectioning process is a team effort that is completed with great consideration and care. Your child’s current teacher, the grade level team, special area personnel and school administration each play an important role in the placement process. The team considers many factors and works to place each individual child into a classroom setting that best meets the educational needs of the child.
The staff considers and balances many factors in the sectioning process:
Individual learning Gender balance
Student Dynamics
Special Education and 504 needs
Support services needs
Class size (in line with BOE targets)
Academic strengths
Academic growth areas
We truly hope that you will rely on our professional judgment as we group the children with the idea of creating the very best learning environment for all students. Parental requests should be submitted in writing (letters or emails) to my attention no later than Friday, April 23, 2021. No letters can be accepted after this date as it impacts the overall balance of classrooms. Letters should cite reasons for wanting a specific learning environment, not a specific teacher or mention specific students; unless there is grave concern and even then we cannot guarantee placement due to the number of sections.
Classroom assignments at Kimball Hill School for the 2021-2022 school year will be available via Infinite Campus grades K-6 in mid-August after open registration has taken place, as directed by the district office. If you do not have an email address, you will receive your child’s assignment in the mail which means everyone will not receive their mailing on the same day.

Before and After Care for Kimball Hill Students- Run by the Park District
R.E.C. is a Park-District-run program, which offers before and after school care for children whose parents require extended childcare. R.E.C. is a self-supporting program and is not supported by the school district or tax funds. Enrollment is limited. This Park District program is one of many childcare options offered in the community. The Park District processes registrations and payments. All registrations, drops, schedule changes, refunds, and additional fees are billed through the Park District.
The program is structured to be relaxed and recreational to counterbalance the educational activities during the school day. We offer quality childcare with a variety of structured and unstructured activities including: arts, crafts, sports, active games, outdoor play, and games they can play with their peers, such as card or board games. Children are also given time to work on homework.
The R.E.C. Supervisor hires, trains, and oversees all R.E.C. program staff while the school district houses the before and after-school programs. Each site has a Site Director who reports to the R.E.C. Supervisor. The Site Director and the R.E.C. staff are responsible for the daily program under the direction of the R.E.C. Supervisor. For more information about the R.E.C. program, visit our website at https://rmparks.org/rec
