Cassidy Gifted and Talented News
Week of March 7
What We Are Up to This Week in GT
Literacy:
In literacy, students in grades 2-4 are finishing up their opinion pieces so keep an eye out for those to start showing up on our Gifted and Talented Student Work page on http://cassidyschool.org/gt-student-work/.
Most fifth graders have finished their projects to go along with Johnny Tremain so those are posted on our Student Work page as well (if they wanted to have them posted there). They are now moving on to a project to go along with a historical fiction book of their choice.
All grade levels are learning about presentation skills and will be practicing and implementing what they have learned to present their projects to the class.
Math:
In math, we are continuing to work on accelerating the curriculum, meaning that we will be teaching any grade level content that is needed and then moving on to more challenging above grade level content. We will also continue our work with advanced problem solving and metacognition (being mindful of our thought processes so that we can explain our thinking).
Art, Creativity, and/or Leadership:
All students are continuing to work on the projects they selected.
General Intellectual:
Students in these groups have been working on higher level thinking, reasoning, and logic through complex problem solving. We are using a program called Problem Solvers in 2nd and 3rd grade and Deductive Reasoning in 4th and 5th grade.
