Luther Ronzoni Vandross, Jr. was born on April 20, 1951. He was a background vocalist for famous artists such as David Bowe, Diana Ross, and Donna Summer. In 1981 he released his first debut and he was then noticed. Luther sold 25 million albums worldwide and received many Grammy Awards. He was nominated for 31 Grammy awards but he only received 8, such as best R&B Song of the Year, Best R&B Duet, and Best R&B Vocalist. "Dance with My Father" was the last song Luther recorded. It was recorded merely 2 years before his death. Luther died of a heart attack on July 1, 2005. He was 54. Luther Vandross never married, never had any children, his 3 sibilings and fathed died before he he was famous.

He was in episodes 2 and 5 of Sesame Street in 1969 at age 19. At the end of his career and life, he received a star on the star Walk of Fame.
