Love is the Answer?
In order to encourage an industrious and compassionate learning environment, Montessori education is grounded in Grace & Courtesy Lessons and the fastidiousness of the Montessori Prepared Environment. Peace Tables & Peace Poles abound, reminding child and adult alike that this is our mission in the world.
But the questions still remain. Is love the curriculum or a skill/concept to be learned? Is love a goal or a daily energy that drives actions? Is love a solution to the many problems in our society? Whatever the answer, I have recognized that when I stop to look at the child as "love incarnate", then the child becomes the teacher and I must become a student of the world.

School-Wide Grace & Courtesy Emphasis
- When I do what I say I am going to do, I am being responsible.
- When I make a mistake and tell the truth about what I did, I am taking responsibility for what I do and say.
- When I do something that helps everyone and hurts no one, I am acting responsibly.
- When I tell the truth about my sad, scary or angry feelings and I ask someone to help me feel better, I am taking responsibility for my feelings.
Virtual Meeting Procedures
For your student's safety, in order to be admitted into a virtual meeting/lesson, your student's first name and last initial/last name must be displayed. If the teacher does not recognize the username of the participant, that person will not be admitted into the meeting/lesson. If your student is not able to attend the live meeting/lesson, they will have an opportunity to watch the recorded session at a later date. Thank you for helping us with this safety measure.
Our school is awaiting devices from SCCPSS - when those are received, Phase Two of device distribution will begin. If you have a student currently on the waitlist for a device, you will be contacted via email when a device is available. In the email, you will receive a link to schedule an appointment to pick up the device from school. You will also receive information on how to purchase the Technology Protection Plan (TPP) offered by SCCPSS. This information is also available on the Ellis website.
Click here for more information on low-cost internet access for qualifying families.
SCCPSS Smart Buses equipped with internet access will begin to run on September 1st. More information including a schedule can be found on the SCCPSS eLearning Days Guide.
Our first lesson with students is about the role of the school counselors, how to get in contact with us, what confidentiality is, and how to identify trusted adults. We've been enjoying seeing your children's faces and look forward to continuing to meet with all students for School Counseling Instruction time. Please see your teacher's ItsLearning page for our Zoom link to have your child join us for their lesson time.
