A Message from Principal Bame

Dear Laurel Park Families,

Tomorrow, November 8th, is Election Day and all schools are closed for the day. Teachers will be working either on campus or remotely to prepare for the remainder of the second quarter. Please make sure to adjust your calendars for the week:

  • Tuesday, November 8th - Election Day/ Teacher Workday/ No School
  • Thursday, November 10th - Early Release Day at 1:45 pm
  • Friday, November 11th - Veterans' Day/ No School

November is designated as National Native American Heritage Month. This observance commemorates the history, heritage, and culture of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives. Laurel Park will take time during morning announcements, and throughout the month of November, to share the amazing contributions of Native Americans and Alaskan Natives.

This week is National School Psychology Week. As a school, we are committed to supporting the overall health and wellness of our staff and students. We appreciate the fine balance that exists between academic and social emotional growth. Please reach out to our Student Support Team if you ever feel that your child needs additional support.

PTA Sponsors Black Box Dance Theatre

LPES PTA is excited to welcome Black Box Dance Theatre to the school for classroom workshops the weeks of October 31 (tracks 1 and 2) and December 12 (tracks 3 and 4)! Two teaching artists will work with individual homerooms for 45-55 minute sessions. Each workshop allows for full student participation as they learn the history of modern dance and create dances based on grade level curriculum. Workshops for kindergarten, first, and second grade students will focus on weather. Third and fourth grade students will focus on the Earth, sun, and moon. Workshops for fifth graders will concentrate on the Revolutionary War. These programs are funded through a grant provided by United Arts Council and the LPES PTA. Thank you to families who have supported the PTA through fundraisings and donations.
