Principal's Message
Ravinia Families,
I am so proud to say that we have successfully completed 28 days of student attendance in the current learning environment. We need everyone's continued support for it to stay that way. We know at some point we will need to pivot to full remote learning, but in order for that to be as far out as possible for as little time as possible, please continue to be diligent in adhering to the 3Ws:
Wear a mask
Wash your hands
Watch your distance
In other news, MAP test results are being sent to families today. Dr. Ryan included a message regarding the updated metrics for the assessment. As a reminder to our second grade families, the K-1 test is read to students, and the assessment switches to having to read the assessment in second grade. It is very common for scores to decrease at the beginning of second grade. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions you may have.
As we continue to plan for the future, please be aware that we are not going to be celebrating Halloween in District 112 schools this year. There will be no class parties, and we ask that you do not send your child to school in costume. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe learning environment in the building.
Warmly,
Courtney Nordstrom, Principal

The district has asked that all in-person students certify by 8AM. Please help us by certifying students as soon as possible. We understand that everyone forgets periodically (even me, Ms. Nordstrom!), so we make calls each day to uncertified families. We do this to help those that may forget and also to help avoid any student embarrassment or delay in instruction, in the event that they need to be isolated from their peers on campus to be certified.
From the Library
Dear Parents,
It's been great getting books in student's hands. Second through fifth graders have all been taught how to place a book on hold using the Destiny Discover App located in Clever. Ask your child to show you how it works. The remote students do not have the app in Clever, but there is a link in Otus under Class Board for them to access the catalog from there. Starting the week of November 2nd we will be offering a book pick up and drop off in the school vestibule for our remote students and will also resume regular check out to our students in person.
In the meantime, please remember everyone has access to our ebooks and audiobooks from the Sora App in Clever. Here is a video explaining how to access Sora if you need a reminder. All second through fifth graders have been taught how to utilize Sora. Please ask your child how it works. Ask them to read a book with you. It's a great way to read together!
Enjoy exploring, Mrs. Lau
New story at our Story Walk!
Please bring your family to the StoryWalk near our school starting this weekend. See the linked invitation for all the details. Our StoryWalk starts on Roger Williams near the circle drive in front of Millenium Hall. Signs are posted and numbered. As you move through the StoryWalk, be aware of other family groups and allow for at least six feet of social distance. If there are too many people at the StoryWalk, please come back at a later time, it is important to uphold the governor’s order for fifty people or less at any time. The new StoryWalk will be up from Friday, October 9th - Sunday, October 18th. Subsequent StoryWalks will go up over time, refer to our school newsletter for when the next StoryWalk is up and running at our school.
