Dear Laurel Springs School Families,

Our first week back to school has been productive and filled with plenty of relationship building experiences. All relationships, including teacher/student, student/student, and teacher/teacher are meaningful and serve a purpose in our school culture and climate. During the first week of school, teachers set expectations and relayed short and long-term goals with students. We spoke with all classes to prepare our students for the routines for recess and lunch. I met with each class to discuss our system of behavior management through positive reinforcement and restorative practices. We even rallied together today for our first Dragon Spirit Shirt Friday. All in all, it has been a pleasure being back to school with your children. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions.

Thank you!

4. Room Parents

This year we will be having in-person room parents. Each class will be assigned a team of room parents. Two parents from each team will be selected to be in-person room parents for each of our 3 holiday events. Our classroom events consist of Halloween, Winter, and Spring Celebrations.

Signing up does not guarantee that you will be selected for the in-person role, however, you will at least be offered a role as an at home team member. At home team members will still help coordinate and communicate celebration plans.

The two room parents who come in for each celebration will lead the class in a craft, a book, a trivia type game, etc. There will not be food consumed at class celebrations.

To be an in-person room parent or part of a stay at home room parent team, you must be a member of our HSC. It's never too late to join! You will be notified if you are selected to be a room parent for this school year and communication with your classroom teacher will begin.

Thank you for your support!

Room Parent sign ups will close on September 22nd at 4pm.

6. Bright Arrow

As of 3pm today, the use of the Remind application has been discontinued. All communication will be funneled through Bright Arrow Communications. Communication methods consist of mass text, email, and phone calls.

Every student at Laurel Springs School is entered into Powerschool. This includes all of their parent contact information. From there, that information is directly linked to Bright Arrow's communication system.

If you are not receiving messages, please call the office at 856-783-1086 and we will get you connected.

7. Providing Food to Those in Need

Given the current state of the inflation rate, a family from Laurel Springs has come forward to help other families who may be in need of food items due to rising prices. We would like to offer the opportunity to pick up a grocery bag of essential items one time per week. The pick up day will be set for Thursdays at a coordinated time between 9am and 2:30pm. Please call Mrs. Corrigan for details and to set up a time (856-783-1086 ext.112). This is just another reason why the School Community of Laurel Springs is such a special place.

8. LSS is Hiring Paraprofessionals

Laurel Springs School is seeking Paraprofessionals (Classroom Aides) for this school year. No experience is required. If you would be interested in joining our team, please email a letter of interest and resume to rmahlman@laurelspringschool.org. If you would prefer to gather some information about the position before applying, please feel free to give us a call at the main office to discuss. 856-783-1086
