RCCTC Teacher Academy students gain real life experience
After an 18 month hiatus due to the pandemic students in Ross Collins Career and Technical Center’s Teacher Academy were finally able to return to campuses to work with MPSD teachers.
“We are so excited, this is our first day of fieldwork for Year 1 and Year 2 students in Teacher Academy,” said Dena Patterson, RCCTC. “This is the first time they are able to get in the schools, in the classrooms to work right beside the teachers and be able to work with the students.”

The Safety Patrol Team at TJ Harris Upper Elementary took to their duty posts recently making sure all students arrived and left school in a safe and orderly manner. What a way to be proactive and lead on campus!

West Hills Pre-K Classes enjoy visit from Meridian Fire Department
Mrs. Butler and Mrs. Ethridge's PreK classes enjoyed visiting with firefighters and learning about fire safety recently. The children enjoyed watching the truck leave because the driver blew the horn and demonstrated the sound of the siren for them. Thank you Meridian Fire Dept Engine #4 for coming by and putting a big smile on our students' faces.

Eagles repeat as City Champions
Back-to-Back titles for Eagles as they top Northwest
Carver Middle School wins their second consecutive city championship led by, second-year coaches, Terrance Bembry, Charles Lockley, and first-year coaches Larry Palmer and Darius Ewing. Carver held Northwest to one pass completion and snagged three interceptions, two of which were for touchdowns. The Caver offense controlled the entire game with a ferocious ground attack and timely wrinkles to keep off-balance. The Carver Eagles are, once again, proud to be your reigning, defending, undisputed, City Champions! #Back2Back

Carver Middle School September Teacher of the Month is Mrs. Miller, 6th grade ELA. Mrs. Miller’s dedication and teamwork are more than words can express. She is dedicated to seeing her students excel. She teaches with great passion and can be seen walking around with her laptop constantly tracking her student data. In a time of need, she took on her colleagues’ classes and has not missed a beat. We appreciate you, Mrs. Miller!

Students in Ms. Powell’s Science classes applied their knowledge of the human organ system in this engaging lesson where they had to draw humans while correctly labeling and placing the different organs! Students were able to connect their classroom learning to real-world models!

MHS senior XZorion Creer had the chance to learn a little more about the banking industry this week while job shadowing at Citizens National Bank. Creer has said that is interested in Real Estate and Banking as possible future career paths. MHS Cheerleaders host Cheerleading Clinic
The Meridian High School Cheerleaders hosted a Cheerleading Clinic from MPSD Pre-K-5th graders on Saturday, October 2, 2021. During the clinic, students learned game day cheers and routines. Students will perform with the MHS Cheerleaders at the football game against Oak Grove on October 8, 2021. Parents and students alike were excited about the camp! #wearemeridian
