According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary a hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities. Without these heroes we wouldn't have this great technology like we do today. In my own words a hero is someone who risks their life and helps other people or a person that makes other people happy and get inspired by them.
A hero is a firefighter going into a burning building and saving a person or pet. Imagine that your pet or friend is inside a burning building that is about to collapse on them. Consider that a firefighter is risking their life to go inside a burning building to help your friend. These people are in danger but they help one or another to get out of the danger. If no one risked their lives to help other people then there would be no people. Lives could be lost but in the end people will be saved. This is what a hero would be, a person who takes risks.
A hero is a family member pushing you out of the way from a falling object. My hero lived in Poland for his entire life. I would visit him all the time. One time when I was visiting him a giant wine bottle exploded and fell off the cabinet. He was right next to me so he pushed me out of the way and saved my life. I realized that I could have gotten severely injured if he hadn't pushed me out of the way. I was very thankful for what he did. He was very heroic for pushing me out of the way. This heroic action is showing that a hero helps people when they need it.
In conclusion you can see that a firefighter or family member is showing a meaning of what it is to be a hero. You can risk your life and help other people to show that you are a hero. People can think that a hero is a person who helps people, but a hero is more than that. Heroes go out and risk their own human lives to save other lives. Do you really know what a hero means? Do you risk things for other people? The word Hero could have many definitions. Which means that a hero could be anyone.

A hero is someone who takes risks to persevere in their life. My untouchable hero is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He was a famous basketball player who played for the L.A. Lakers. He also has won many NBA awards. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a hero to me because he persevered in his life to get where he is today. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar shows true qualities of a hero by showing that he takes risks and by his perseverance.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a hero to me because he shows that he takes on new challenges. When Kareem was younger he liked to play all kinds of sports, but the one sport that stuck out to him was basketball. He played it all the time with his school mates. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was really shy of his height. In the encyclopedia called, The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives, it states that “Abdul-Jabbar's mother was nearly six feet tall, and his father was six feet, two inches.” This would mean that Kareem would be really tall too. Although he was very shy of his height he still continued to play basketball very well. Later on he took a shot at trying out for the L.A. Lakers and he got on it. As you can see Kareem took challenges and risks and he got put on the L.A Lakers.
My personal and untouchable hero both took risks to persevere in new things. My heroes both take a challenge/risk to persevere in their lives. My grandpa grew up in World War 2 and wanted to fight in the war to help his country. Kareem wanted to become a famous basketball player. When they took those risks they achieved a goal that a hero would achieve. One had an outstanding life and the other became very famous. My grandpa and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are both heroes to me because they took risks and showed perseverance.
The main thing I have learned about my heroes are that I should always persevere and take risks. If I have a talent and am too afraid to show it I must take a risk to show who I really am. In the future if I want to be in a big swim team I must tryout. That's what it takes to be a hero.
