Day #12 Agenda
Plant Life: What is a Seed?
RDT2G8
Since we do not yet have student e-mail accounts, you will need to have a parent help you fill in the bottom portion "Enter the information in the fields below." When asked to create a user name and a password , it might just be easier on you to make it the same as your ixl username and password abc123 . This will be a good site for you to visit during the summer to keep your reading skills up to snuff.
Of course, you may still simply read the passage by clicking on the included download.
Life Cycle of Plants
Math: Partitioning Rectangles
"Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size (unit) squares
and count to find the total number of same-size squares."
You Choose
Option 1: Play the card game Total of 10. Set out 20 cards face up on the table (with picture cards removed). The first player takes 2 or more cards off the table which have a total of 10. The aim of the game is to clear the table and be the player with the most cards at the end. Click here for more detailed instructions.
Option 2: How about a little more tangram fun? Click here to visit ABC Ya! and explore making fun shapes with these fun Chinese puzzle pieces.
OPTIONAL Sketch Comedy: Laughs & Live Drawing with Narwhal and Jelly
Ever wonder what it would be like to blow bubbles and then float in them up to space, or what you would find if you surfed down to the end of a rainbow? Take a swim with Narwhal and Jelly to find out!
Join us today, May 7 at 3 p.m. (ET), as we dive into the deep-sea world of Narwhal and Jelly with author/illustrator Ben Clanton. Learn the story behind these underwater besties and listen to Ben read from his newest book Narwhal's Otter Friend. Plus, watch as he sketches his famous characters live! Perfect for grades K-2 but everyone is welcome. Click here to learn more.
Special Narwhal and Jelly Giveaway: Live webcast attendees are eligible to enter to win a prize package from Ben Clanton!
Little Libraries, Big Heroes
Follow along with me as we find out how these over-sized mailboxes or book-holding birdhouses--just like my friend Brenda's--came to be, and how a simple idea can gain traction in Little Libraries, Big Heroes. Would you like to learn more about these tiny libraries? Click here.
