CDS Middle School
Weekly Newsletter
May 2, 2020
From the Director
Dear CDS Community,
On Monday we will begin Term 5--the final term of the 2019-20 school year. As I reflect on Term 4, I would like to say with all sincerity how proud I am of our CDS MS students. They have shown incredible resiliency and commitment during this unprecedented time. Our students continue to engage with creativity, kindness, and enthusiasm. I know I speak for all teachers when I say how much we miss seeing them on campus. We do not know yet what Term 5 will bring, but regardless of what happens, I'm confident that we will finish the school year with strength and significant personal growth.
We are aware of the many important end-of-year events on the horizon. Teachers are hard at work planning contingencies for Grade 8 graduation ceremonies, the athletic banquet, Arch Day, and more. We will follow up in the coming weeks with more details regarding Term 5 and the end of the school year.
In this week's newsletter, Ms. Kim and Ms. Van Liew have featured some of the excellent musical compositions and visual art our students have produced throughout Term 4. I encourage all of you to take a look and even leave a comment on the Padlets if you have time.
Please note that in Term 5 teachers will begin using PowerSchool once again to take attendance. It may take us a few days to adjust the technology to the new schedule, but by Wednesday you will be able to monitor your child's attendance using PowerSchool.
As requested CCs will begin on 5/4. See more information on this below. If you have any question please contact the MS Office on Monday.
Have a great week!

Welcome to the SWIP
Recently, COVID-19 has required us to modify the way in which we support our students. At Dalton we want to focus on actively helping to maintain our students' well-being, both during times of crisis and normal daily life. This is where the SWIP page comes in! So, take a look around and you will see some information from the student council, SHINE, and various teachers. If you have resources that should be added to this page, or any questions please feel free to contact us!

Library Book Pick-Up
Students,
I am thrilled that you all will be checking out books...they have been lonely at school without you! To check out books, please fill out this form. Make sure to read all the instructions, like which day you are allowed to come and pick up your books. Also, when you do come, return the books that you currently have. Many students want to read the same books so once you have finished one, return it so someone else can read it!
The picture below shows how you will pick up your books. Come in through the main doors and you will immediately see a table with the books. The big blue box is where you should drop off your return books. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me an email (ecarley@daltonschool.kr).
Happy reading!
- Ms. Carley
