HALO HIGHLIGHT - Strategic Visioning
Dear Saints Parents,
Catholic high schools of vitality have a vision, goals of what they want to be and a plan to get there. I am excited to announce that St. Louis Catholic High School has begun a strategic visioning process to help us do just that. We are partnering with Bernard Dumond of Development Innovations 360, out of Lafayette, LA. While local, Bernard and his team work with Catholic schools and dioceses across the country on everything from strategic planning to capital campaigns to board development. We are excited to have Bernard on board and guiding our school through this strategic visioning process.
We have decided to focus on six areas for our strategic plan: mission and Catholic identity, governance and leadership, academic excellence, student experience (athletics and activities), operational vitality (advancement, enrollment, marketing, communications), and facilities. Our faculty have already been divided into one of six committees to address a vision area and begin drafting goals for our strategic plan.
We also want to hear from you. In late March and early April, we will be hosting listening sessions. We want to hear how you, our parents, feel about the current state of the school and where you would like to see the school grow and innovate in the next three to five years. Please mark your calendars, and plan to attend one of the following listening sessions here on campus. Sessions will only last an hour to an hour and a half.
Thursday, March 28: 6:00 p.m.
Friday, April 5: 8:00 am. and noon
Wednesday, April 10: 1:00 p.m. (after the Parent Guild Meeting) and 6:00 p.m.
I look forward to seeing and hearing from you at one of the listening sessions!
God Bless,
Andrew R. Bradley, Principal

Legislative Youth Advisory Council Applications Open Until March 22
The Louisiana Legislative Youth Advisory Council (LYAC) is now accepting applications for membership from high school students who have an interest in representing the voices of other young people around the state. LYAC is an annually appointed body composed entirely of students that addresses issues affecting the youth of Louisiana.
The purpose of LYAC is to facilitate the communication between youth and the legislature, and to give students a unique opportunity to be involved in the workings of state government. The council studies and addresses issues of importance to young people, such as education, community service, employment, strategies to increase youth participation in government, safe environments for youth, substance abuse, underage drinking, and youth health and physical fitness.
Members of the council are selected from a wide pool of applicants from around the state who display a strong interest in civic involvement. The 31-member body includes three student members selected from each of the congressional districts.
The deadline for applications is March 22, 2019. Click here to access the application. All applicants are required to submit two recommendation letters and short essay questions with their application. For additional information please contact Megan Bella at bellam@legis.la.gov or 225-342-2370.
