Scholastic Book Orders

Tuesday, Jan. 27th, 12:15am to Monday, Feb. 2nd, 12pm

This is an online event.

Purchasing from Scholastic allows our classrooms, library and students to benefit from Scholastic rewards. It also provides ASD parents and students access to an ever-changing selection of books.

Due to increased customs fees, you will be charged a 10% administration fee. This covers the cost of orders entering the country.

There will be an option at check out to choose your child’s grade level order. If you have children in multiple grades, you can make one combined order for all children, or individual orders, one for each child.

How to order online

1 Visit

2 Select the books that you’d like to order and add them to your basket by entering the catalogue code (item number in catalog) in Shop Search.

3 When you checkout, choose your child’s grade level open order (ie. Grade One order, Middle School order, etc.). Please add their class too! (ie. 2A)

4 Checkout and choose the ‘school delivery’ option.

If you have difficulties ordering online, please contact Lauren Elliott at or Karen Genest at

Order will be OPEN Tuesday, January 27 until Monday, February 2 at midnight

We hope that you enjoy browsing through the leaflets and the website – it’s a great way to encourage your child to widen their reading experience.

Second Grade Musical

We need volunteers to help with the sets and costumes for the second grade musical. If you are interested, please come to the meeting on Sunday, Jan. 18 in Dr. Greg’s classroom (1310), at 8:05 AM. If you are interested, but cannot make it to the meeting, please contact Dr. Greg or Ms. Yamaura

We will choose a few children for speaking lines, and a few solo parts. Auditions will start next week. Please check on NVS if you are interested in helping your child practice the script or get familiar with the songs for solos. Open LES Music course, and scroll down to Gr. 2.

Walking in our character's footsteps

In this reading unit, we pay very close attention to what our character does and says and we ask ourselves what that tells us about that character. We have had lots of fluency practice through Shared Reading, I Read You Read, Choral Reading and Reader's Theatre, all in the company of Frog & Toad, Down The Hill.

Science Unit on Weather

Check out Brainpop Jnr for great videos on seasons, temperature and the water cycle.

Explore Weather on MYON.....

Mrs. Gellatly in the Elementary library has made a book list of 20 books on weather and seasons on Myon. Students can find them in Myon under Teacher's List. Usernames are made up of the year of graduation, initial and surname eg 25schung and they all have the same password, 123456. This is a great opportunity to reinforce non-fiction reading in conjunction with our current Science Unit on Weather.

IXL Math

Please encourage your children to practice the Maths concepts we have taught in class on IXL at home; Usernames will always be the child's first name, child's last name, 63 (no spaces), like marymulqueen63, password is dragon.
