Principal's Newsletter

From the Desk of Ms. Clark

April 8, 2021

Dear Parents,

“Alleluia, He Is Risen!” This phrase is being echoed in churches throughout the world. As we reflect on this statement, we can truly understand the reason as to why our school exists.

Spring is finally here, and it is surely filled with exciting days for our students. Please join me in congratulating our 2nd graders. Our 2nd grade students will celebrate their First Eucharist this month. This is such a special day in their lives. Our children learn that the Body and Blood of Christ are offered to us as food to nourish and strengthen us for our journey through life. What a special and joy-filled gift to receive.

During this Easter season, may you experience a renewal of faith all because of our Savior! “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that all who believe in him might not perish but might have eternal life.”

God's blessings,

Ms. Clark

SKD Gala and Grand Prize Raffle

Please join us for this important fundraiser and virtual event on Friday, May 7th. Don't forget about your Grand Prize Raffle tickets. Students who submit 10 tickets by April 9th receive a free dress down day, and the classroom that sells the most tickets by May 4th receives a free dress down day, extra recess, and a pizza/movie party. The winner will be announced at the Gala and you do not need to be viewing to win.

Attendance Policy

If your child will be absent from school, either in-person or virtually, a phone call to the school is necessary on the morning of the absence. Please call the Main Office at 215-357-4720 to report the absence. A phone call from the parent/guardian serves as verification of the absence if made on or before the day of the absence. We have also allowed parents to call their students in as "Virtual" if the student has been around someone who is COVID-19 positive or if the student is experiencing symptoms. This opportunity is not intended to be used for any other reason, such as if a student prefers to stay home for convenience on a given day. Please help us in ensuring that you only call your student in as "Virtual" for the proper reason.

Summer Uniforms

Students will be permitted to begin to wear their PE Summer Uniform or the Regular Summer Uniform beginning Monday, April 12th. Even though the students are permitted to wear their gym uniforms, there are a few things we have noticed that need to be addressed and corrected:

  • Students need to wear the proper logo school PE shirt.
  • Sweaters, sweatshirts, and fleeces may be worn on any day - but if they are not SKD logo, they have to be removed upon arrival at school.

REVISED Symptom Screening Tool

All parents are primarily responsible for monitoring the health of their children. While it is our intention to remain open for the entire school year, parents are expected to do their part and keep their children home when they are sick.

Please see below for the “Revised” Symptom Monitor Checklist which is to be completed each day. By sending your child to school, you are confirming that you have completed this health screening.

Health and Safety Reminders

As cases are increasing each day within our county, I urge you to continue to take necessary precautions to limit coronavirus spread in our community.

  1. Continue with your attentiveness to washing our hands

  2. Properly wear face masks indoors and outdoors when away from home
