What we've been up to.
- We have been practicing counting large quantities to make sure our 1:1 correspondence is solid and ready for first grade. We also practice counting backwards from 20 every day.
- We enjoyed many Mo Willems books this week including Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Knuffle Bunny and The Pigeon Wants a Puppy. We even created our own endings for The Pigeon Wants a Puppy and learned how to draw the pigeon just like Mo.
- Games we learned this week include the +1/-1 game, Sight word search, and Making numbers game.
- We reviewed color words and a variety of sight words.
- On hat day, we made a book about hats, and each completed a math project showing many ways to make ten caps for the peddler from Caps for Sale.
- Sharing baby pictures and stories was a highlight. Needless to say, your children have always been ridiculously cute.
Thank you to our Mystery Reader
Jacob's mom, Deborah, read us a classic Dr. Seuss story, McElligot's Pool, which inspired a whole slew of tall tales about kindergartners who caught fish that were "this big". Honestly. They crack me up.

The things kids say. For real.
Mrs. Cohen: When I was a baby, there were no dvd's or iPads.
Students: (blank stares all around).
Mrs. Cohen: But, when I was your age I liked to read books and ride my bike.
Student 1: How could you read a book and ride a bike?
