From the desk of Ms. Porter, Ellis Art Teacher
Featured Artist: Grant Wood
Third graders are analyzing a painting by American artist Grant Wood. They noticed that it is a rural landscape painting and that some objects are close-up and some are far away. They started a collage with supplies from a scarecrow building kit and will add lots of rural details to their artworks! Ask your favorite 3rd grader how to make something look close-up or far away in an artwork!
MEET MS. FINE, PHS SCIENCE TEACHER
Mrs. Fine is originally from Lathrop, Missouri. Her family wasn't very happy about her taking a job in the rivalry town of Plattsburg, but we are glad she did!
In her free time, Ms. Fine likes to run and read. She travels any chance that she gets and went to Greece this past summer. She has more travel plans for next summer! Welcome to CCR3, Ms. Fine!

- Science Olympiad season is about to begin! Science Olympiad provides opportunities for students to engage in a variety of scientific endeavors while developing higher level science and math skills. The Science Olympiad team has tremendous success in past years and many past members have gone on to pursue careers in science fields. Members compete in individual events and will have individual coaches. Many volunteers help with different events. Most events practice once a week; many students participate in more than one event. There are two competitions on Saturdays. Transportation is provided to events. Members must arrange for transportation to and from practices. The Science Olympiad season is typically October-April. Science Olympiad is for CCMS and PHS students.
- The PHS junior class and its sponsors work at the Football concession to raise money for their PROM.
