Halloween News!
Halloween Costumes:
Students may wear Halloween costumes that are appropriate for an elementary school. No blood or gore.
Face painting is allowed if the student is recognizable and the painting applies to the costume being worn (i.e. whiskers for a cat, nose for a clown).
No toy (or real) weapons are allowed at school.
If a costume is determined by a staff member to be a disruption in the classroom, a possible safety hazard, or inappropriate the student will be asked to change or modify the costume.
Students may be allowed time to change into their costume at the discretion of the teacher.
Parents are encouraged to supervise their child's costume choice – keeping in mind that ultimately Turrill Elementary is a place of learning, safety and appropriateness.
The administration reserves the right to address students with inappropriate costumes to either change or determine other possible solutions.
Second Week of PTC Sponsored Penny Wars Coming Up!
Week 2 (October 15-19):
- All coins!
- Containers will be located in the Lunchroom.
- Pennies are still used as defense for your classrooms container.
- All other denominations are used to "bomb" other classroom containers.

Strategic Plan
The District started holding strategic planning focus panels late last month. During those engagements, a proposal was presented to right-size the District as a first step in the strategic planning process. There will be a lot more information coming out in the next several weeks, and many opportunities for students, staff and the entire community to get involved in the process.
We are currently planning for our next round of engagements, a pair of focus groups comprised of 80-100 people per session. We will have more information on those in the near future. If you would like to be a part of one of the focus groups, please e-mail Mary Moss at mmoss@lapeerschoolsl.org.
For more information, please visit the District Website and click on the strategic planning link on the main page.
