Welcome to a New School Year!
Have you wondered why you are seeing so much tie dye around Kesterson this week? Every year we choose a new theme for our school, and this year we chose Peace, Love and Learning. After the past year and a half, we thought that we could all use a little more of these things!
We chose this theme as a reminder that, even with all of the things going on in our country and the world right now, school should be a happy place where students and adults all respect each other and practice kindness. We are lucky to have such a diverse community, and we appreciate all of our families more than you know.
I personally would like to thank our families for not pushing back about our COVID requirements. While I know that some people are not happy with masks and distancing, I have said from the start that we will do anything we have to do in order to make sure that our students can remain in school in person this year. That is our first priority, and I'm very grateful to our community for understanding that. I feel so lucky to be at Kesterson, with the most amazing families in Clark County.
Ms. Wright
COVID Information
As we communicated last week, the current CCSD guidance is that if there is one positive case in a classroom, then the entire class must go on quarantine. For this reason, it is extremely important that you monitor your children for symptoms each morning, and please do not send your child to school if he or she has symptoms.
We will do our best to avoid quarantining classes, but this depends on you! We need everyone's help to make sure that we can stay in school. Please see the graphics below for more detailed information.
Arrival and Dismissal
We understand that there have been some hiccups with dismissal time in the afternoons, especially around first and second grades. We are working on adjusting lineup spots, so starting on Monday we will have students line up according to the map below.
Parents, please stand back a bit and give the teachers some space while they are dismissing students. We know it can get a bit hectic, and it's important that our teachers know where every student is going at the end of the day, and who is picking them up.

Contact Information
Please double check your email address as well. We try not to send out ParentLink messages often, so when we do it is important information. After the last message we sent out, we got return messages from about 50 parents with invalid email accounts.
Also, please make sure that you connect with your child's teacher on Class Dojo. This is the quickest and easiest way to contact teachers and to get important information.
Quiet Hours
This year, I have asked teachers to set "quiet hours" and to communicate those hours to parents. While I want teachers to respond to parent questions and concerns, I also want parents to unplug and spend times with their families.
Please respect any quiet hours that are set by your child's teachers, and understand that you may not get an immediate response. In order for our teachers to be able to give their best to your children, they need time to rest and recharge.
In general, the CCSD expectation is that phone calls, emails and messages should receive a response within 24 hours.
Enrollment Numbers
We tell you this so that you will understand that it is possible that your child will have to move to a different classroom after count day. While we hope that this doesn't happen, at this time we are not optomistic.
